Just imagine how this is normalized now and not seen as a big deal. It's definitively coming from the girls side though, where sex is not seen as anything special, it's a means to get money, attention, a promotion at work, as a way "steal" their friends man, etc.

We had a kid in my junior high who had a (single) mom who shot a few films, supposedly his friends found out when they went over there and saw them in the vhs collection. It was normal to him, he thought it was gross but like a celebrity thing for a while. He was pretty messed up, but that was only a small part of it. He was the kind of guy that would rip headphones out of strangers' ears while they walked by. Probably in prison now.

A classmate in our year also tried to open a porn site he filled exclusively with local girls he hit on, sometimes 'dated' and paid to shoot shitty porn and sell it via USB drives locally or FTP transfers. He got busted for using the school A/V equipment, because they had sprung for the editing software and camera gear that he would take home for 'projects'. Finally one girl heard some friends complimenting her BJ technique, at which point her BF got too nosy and discovered she didn't really have a part time job after all.

It was a mess, the kid was a minor as were a bunch of his gf's/prosties but it never went nuclear like I expected. There was a real sense of embarrassment from all the adults involved that they let this all happen without intervention. I think they had known about it but didn't quite know how to address the whole thing without utterly ruining their upstanding name. It was a pretty upscale HS known in the state for having good grades and athletics, and bringing the feds sniffing around would've dashed their hopes. In the end he quietly disappeared, likely to juvie, and the girls from our school were given nothing but sympathy for being "forced into prostitution", which only really would've been a few. There had been a few that really leaned into the whole 'pornstar' aesthetic, bragging about the money and how wanted they were. Weird times, but it shows how the strange transition from camera/cellphone/internet savvy teens that admins had to experience. THese were people still using win95 on their office comps finding out that people can email gigs of bobs and vegane.
