I've been using dissenter browser. Fork of brave. Keeps the good stuff (like adblock), drops the bad stuff (BAT or whatever its called, and the http injection backdoor). Comes with dissenter pre-installed since they've been deplatformed everywhere else

Look into the Epic browser. One of the most hardened of the privacy browsers.

They stripped out all the tracking from Chrome. You browse in incognito mode by default. They keep track of the trackers yet block them by default. It's got a list of built in proxies. It's got adblockers active by default. Surfing the web is FAST.

The downsides are they don't update very quickly as new Chrome versions are released. They're still on v71 when the official Chrome version is somewhere up to 75/76

Fucking google. All they had to do was just keep making good products and services, sell some safe/mundane metadata, stay out of politics, and keep/follow their old "don't be evil" motto.

I'm slowly trying to move away from Google -- it just sucks because everything is tied to my 2 ancient gmail accounts which I've had since gmail was first created. Every third party account I have is tied to them. I use Chrome, drive, docs and sheets regularly for everything from my resume to phone backups, to personal accounting to fitness tracking. I have a large google music playlist. I have an android phone that's plugged into all these services and I'm dreading the thought of spending weeks/months finding something to replace all them.

But after the whole project veritas thing, it's clear there's no chance they'll turn the ship around. It's time to get the fuck out of their ecosystem.

Maybe the librem phone, Spotify, libre office, and a NAS with raid or server space with an FTP to use as cloud storage will work for me.

Brave is built on Electron.js, which uses Google Chromium (as do most contemporary browsers - even the new version of Microsoft Edge,) their open-source browser.

So, if your goal is not to feed the Google beast, this may not be what you want. If your goal is to stay off Google radar, this is almost certainly not going to do it.

I use Brave on my phone and laptop because of built in Adblock. But I still use Google for searching since I get better search results.

I'm heavily reliant on Google, and I can't see myself ditching it, even if I wanted to. I use GMail for email. I use YouTube as my only entertainment. I have an Android (rather not be using iOS), etc.

I've been using brave & startpage/ddg for some time now and I'm happy with the solution. I have noticed a distinct uptick in the number of posts of this nature across the various web forums I frequent since the project Veritas video exposed Jen Gennai admitting that Google was training their AI to prevent another Trump election in 2020. What I don't understand is why. Google's artificial intelligence has very little to do with their browser or their search engine. Sure they probably have rebranded some of the code from Deepmind into the Machine Learning Fairness portions of the search engine. I don't believe that switching search engines is going to impact their training deepmind to elicit the election outcome that they desire in any way. That's like saying that the world-ranked GO & Chess players have a chance of beating deepmind by changing their browsing and searching habits.
