There's a guy who wrote a whole book on this idea. It's literally called Fuck It (or probably F*ck It). His main thesis is that learning to say this is a simple way of attaining inner peace. After I read his book, I did go around thinking, "Fuck it" about a lot of things that would've otherwise bugged or worried me.

It can be a helpful idea. It isn't some magical phrase, but it helps to remind you that what you're fretting over isn't that important -- in fact, it's often complete BS and a waste of time. "Fuck it" can be a very efficient way of dealing with a lot of the nonsense the mind generates.

Things that are external of origin do not bring long term happiness: These are things we are addicted to: like seeking validation from others, chasing desires, chasing sex... Even when you get these things, they are never enough. They are a lie, an illusion. They are needy things that are not within your control, they are driven by the primal, reptilian parts of your brain (R complex) and they are ultimately unsatisfactory.

True, long term happiness comes from things that are internal of origin: These are things like gratitude, philosophy, self-love, self esteem, creativity, contentment, Amor Fati, overcoming challenges that you create for yourself, etc... Having a healthy perspective about life. These are things that are within your control. They are driven by the more evolved parts of the brain (neocortex).

It's not easy, however... it takes A LOT of effort to keep a healthy perspective. The neocortex and R complex parts of your brain are in a constant struggle over your ego and attention. The reptilian brain usually wins because it controls the "survival" parts of the brain. That's why we are usually stuck at the bottom of Maslow's pyramid and very few of us ever make it to self-actualization.

Honestly this was always very natural for me. Rarely let anything get under my skin because it wasn't worth the energy. Didn't see point of holding grudges.. this was a philosophy I subscribed to at a very young age...only got more worked up about things when I got married to someone who made mountains out if mole hills, wanted to fight every battle and demand every right.. be the exception.. basically a Karen. While I could never see eye to eye with her i lost a bit of my composure... Didn't think as deeply about things, became apathetic.. wasn't the laid back guy people knew.. feel it starting to come back now that we've gone divorce route and feels great to be centering back on my natural state
