Funny...but pretty accurate

When I was 26 I was working for a small tech start up. Long hours, decent pay, travelling a bit etc. We had this woman come on board short term as a contractor. Her and I hit it off and when her contract was up we stayed in touch and eventually started dating.

She was the kind of person to text almost everyday and make plans (which was nice for a change). Then one day the company lost two big contracts and what I didn't know at the time was just how far under the company was. They ended up firing about two thirds of the staff including myself.

The text messages went from every other day to hardly any at all. She suddenly became busy and kept having to put off hanging out/seeing each other. I was in a bad place mentally and asked her for help at one point in which she completely ignored me. I figured she was no longer interested and moved on but it wasn't easy.

About nine months later she reaches out to me and once we got past the "how are you" messages it was straight to "Did you find work? What are you doing now."
