Having gone through the thread, the general consensus seems to be that she views him as somewhat of a defacto financial guardian. He seems to be ignorant divorce statistics (prenup). She seems to be engaged and going through a state of intellectual [financial] poverty. He seems oblivious to the lengths she could go to ensure her everblooming tree will always bear her fruit.

Split everything 50/50 and keep a budget and cash flow spreadsheet that you review every month. Keep separate everything. Assign bills to each other for the household. She can do what she wants with her money and vice versa. If she wants to get a job that makes more encourage her in her endeavour to make more than you and she will leave you for a man that makes more than you.

That is the price of admission, just keep your stuff separate.

One of my ex's refused to work, when she lived with me. She was pushing for a joint bank account. Even before MGTOW, I knew enough to refuse and keep that separate. I think that it was after that that I heard from someone that she had really, really bad credit. On top of that, as time went by, there were more and more signs that she was cheating on me, or at least looking to cheat on me.

If you are an honest, smart, organized person, and you associate yourself mainly with other honest, smart, organized people, it's very easy to not believe that a person would approach a relationship looking to take advantage of their partner, someone whom they live with everyday and whom they claim to love. Back then, I thought it would be incredibly rare for someone to be so fake. Or, it's possible that they are so mixed up that they think that is how romantic relationships are supposed to work. Either way, it's not good.

What a guy like in the original post needs to do is the following "thought experiment": (1) Pretend that he has no issue with himself being single; (2) Pretend that he is not attracted to his partner; and (3) After (1) and (2), does he think that it is smart to be in a relationship with his partner?
