Harassment Policy thoughts

A long time ago at a previous job I had my manager come up to tell me that a sexual harassment complaint was filed against me. I was shocked as I hadn't done anything even remotely offensive. I was drug into HR and asked for my take on things. I had no clue what they were talking about and they then said something along the lines of "the incident yesterday with some girl". I had no idea who this person was. I asked them who that is. Turned out it was a girl in another department working on the first floor who I had never even met before. Regardless, I wasn't actually even working the day before and when I said that my manager said "oh, that's right, he wasn't". They actually fired that girl for that. I still have no clue what that was about but there's cameras all over the place and a large team of security personnel who can review the footage to see I was never near that chick.

All these years later I still don't know what the hell that whole incident was about.

I actually filed a harassment complaint at my old job. The executive who used to head up my department didn't like it when I was promoted into the department. She was heading up a different department but she liked to stick her nose in. I was by far the youngest guy in the role and she'd go around bad-mouthing me behind my back and to my face, saying I was unqualified, too young etc. My work said otherwise and my co-workers knew it but it was a problem for me in the broader firm. After doing everything I could to prove her wrong I went to HR when she tried to belittle me publicly. She ended up being told to take a couple days off and leave me alone. That happened and I went on with my job.

My take on it is this is if you have to be told how to behave in work "professionally" then there probably isn't much hope for you. This applies to men, women and whatever combination of the letters lbtwqg is currently fashionable.
