I was actually thinking about this kind of stuff moments ago. About how men have developed healthy and productive ways to harness our instinctive strive for status. Good sportsmanship and honor being good examples. Female biological instincts like hypergamy have not just been bypassed from developing healthy/productive social standards, but been protected against even most of society from admitting even exist.

Its a great gesture. The 2nd place runner (the actual winner) had almost nothing left in the tank yet still managed to pick up the first guy. I salute him.

I was speaking to a bunch of people just today at lunch time..

And we started talking about protecting our family when a burglar breaks in... the two men said they would die protecting their wives and kids if someone tries to hurt them... the women said they'll hide and hope their husbands fight for them, even to death and then they laugh softly....

thats how it is... and men will die as guardians, well in the olden days MOST men would, these days Im not sure, because so many have been emasculated and probably have been taught that fighting back is "toxic masculinity"

But in general... Men have more honor and integrity... likely anyways... but women dying or sacrificing themselves to protect their men?... nope... maybe their children, but these days I'm not so sure about that anymore.

The guy who "won" was robbed of the satisfaction of true victory because it was granted only by the generosity of another competitor who literally grabbed him across the finish line.

The "winner" didn't have what it took to win the race. He didn't have the stamina, endurance, speed, or the ability to pace each one to finish the race.

The guy dragging him was the clear winner, and whoever was in 3rd or 4th place was likely robbed of a medal because a guy who didn't have the endurance to finish legitimately was pulled to victory by another runner.

This is a competition. If you want to make a symbolic gesture like this, then save it for when it doesn't affect the outcome.

I agree with the principle but this is a bad example because there was an incident like this a while back featuring two female runners.

Ancient men created extremely strong friendships. They formed bands that attacked the neighboring tribes and killed all the men and took all the women. Just like lions do today. And then they had to defend their spoils.

My favorite is after a really intense MMA fight, (most of the time) you can tell that beating the shit out of each other has just brought them closer together.

If these were women, the second place wouldn't help, and isn't obliged too. But IF (big if) a second place woman did help, she wouldn't allow first place to remain first place. She would have dropped the girl BEFORE the finish line, insuring she became first.

The winner failed the contest. The guy he helped only won because the real winner had what it took to both win and defeat himself by helping another person win the competition. That is not honor. That is stupidity. Honor would be to help the man train to be a better runner so that he could have a better chance to win fairly on his own, because that's what a running competition is. The best runner of that race is the winner.
