I think it mostly comes from experience and observation. It takes a long time to get rid of society's conditioning about men and women, which starts at an early age. Women used to be kept in check, which didn't allow the worst aspects of their nature to show too much and harm society at large as well as themselves.
Giving them more freedom was a disservice to them, because they clearly can't handle it, and they're taking down the men with them.
Some people call it misogyny, others call it understanding.

There are more and more women who are not married, who have more sexual partners, no husband, no emotional support, and who are "raising" children on their own. It's a very bad trend.
As for damaged children, the number of diseases and problems increase greatly after 35, so a lot of women who wait to have children end up with less-than-ideal offspring. Have you seen the climb in autism over the past few decades.
I've seen Bill Hicks a bit, and he covers a lot of cool stuff, but he's a bit overbearing.

I have contempt for certain character traits, unfortunately in many current western societies these are more often embodied by women. But I am more than cool with anyone who does not have those qualities about them. In other cultures that I've been lucky enough to visit though, it becomes far more balanced. Or less so the other direction. I mostly only care about the US as that's where I live in that regard.

You're making quite a few assumptions here. I can't speak for anyone else in this subreddit about their personal journeys, but I will speak to my own.
The idea of going your own way, is to not engage anyone in battle. There are people in this subreddit who are angry and are expressing that anger, but this is what we refer to as the "red pill rage" phase. It's the starting point in which many of these men are angry at themselves and at anyone and anything they can blame around them for the things that have happened in their lives.
Whatever that may be, that's not for me to judge since I don't know what has happened in the lives of all the people here. It's also the case that there are many here who don't even go through the red pill rage phase because they already came to the realisation that they're disposable people long before they experienced anything negative affected them.
And yeah, lots of things are posted in this subreddit, like constant articles about teachers and women in roles who have power over children who end up raping those children. Many comments are made about how it's amazing how no one seems to give a shit that this is such an epidemic that it happens almost daily except for the people here who see the pattern.
I also enjoy the articles in which women get away with serious crimes such as murder and attempted murder, mutilating people, child abuse, etc, etc. I enjoy them because in a strange way, it amazes me how much people make excuses for these women, trying to get them off the hook for these serious crimes simply because they were born with a vagina instead of a penis.
These posts and others are a way for people to "exercise their demons" as it were, to allow them to feel whatever feelings they need.
After they have gone through the "red pill rage phase" they end up truly starting to go their own way and no longer feel hatred toward women and/or society in general. They've used this space to do whatever they needed to do to get their feelings under control and they're now starting to work on making a better life for themselves.
Can I ask, how is it that I'm dividing the world? I'm a teacher. I'm around teenagers who grow up to be young men who yearn for a strong male role model in their lives because they've always just been around their single mothers and the many boyfriends they bring into the home who are not fatherly at all.
In my own way, I'm doing what I can to be a positive guide to these young men who no one really gives a shit about and would like to ignore and tell them that their attitude is "fucked up"... it really does go a long way when you realise someone out there gives a damn about you, and I'm glad to be that person who is there for them... because no one else wants to be, they just want to throw them away into a dark pit and forget they exist.
But, I guess that attitude is a fucked up one to have, oh well.
Since when is it only men who can go their own way? No one ever claimed it was only men who could go their own way. Women can go their own way too and that's their business if they choose to do so or not. Transgender, non-binary, queer, etc, folk can go their own way too. I don't get what your problem is. This sub is specifically "MGTOW" with the "M" meaning "Men" but if you'd like, you can make your own subreddit to help others go their own way. There is already a "WGTOW" subreddit if you would like to meet up with them.
As for the accusation of misogyny, as I explained before, there are many men going through a process in this subreddit in order to help them stop being so angry toward women and society in general. This subreddit is actually helping make less misoygynist people in the world by allowing them to express what they need to express and get all that shit out of their system.
If you disagree with that process, fair enough. But if you really do want to see less of that kind of thing, perhaps it's the lesser evil than this place not existing at all... and yes, I look around at this subreddit a lot and post here a lot.
I'm brown, I'm an immigrant to Australia, I'm a classical liberal, at least that's the closest my political alignments fall toward, but I find that the people in this subreddit are good, honest people who aren't afraid to speak their mind. No one walks on eggshells here afraid to say anything that someone else might consider to be hurtful.
People in this subreddit speak plainly and they are willing to debate and to listen to other's ideas, whether they agree with you or not. And even if we don't end up agreeing in the end, we still agree that it was a good discussion.
It's rare to find that kind of thing on the Internet these days with so many people being forced to follow the politically correct/social justice warrior/feminist doctrine.

With all due respect, normal well adjusted people don't go baiting people into arguments. I'd consider that quite neurotic behavior in fact. To the second part, I think you may have mischaracterized what MGTOW is. The vast majority of us completely agree with what you said in that our (us mgtow) current problems are because of poor choices we made and are our own doing. Now we are not making said mistakes, and learning from the mistakes of others. And like I said up there were really not a movement like MRAs or Feminism or whatever. We don't advocate for any change, no demands. No agenda. Just keep marriage, cohabitation, and unless you really want them kids out of your life as the costs far, far outweigh the benefits.
