The other guy said it correctly. Hypergamy and Briffault's law. I will make it more simple, men are just way more thirsty and horny than women. If men actually started ignoring women on large scale and learned not to give in to their thirst, things will change at least somewhat.

Because males don’t kill their mates. In sexually dimorphic species there is clearly a superior gender.

In cases where the female of the species is superior, I believe they ALL kill the male after mating. Males are kinder in that regard, especially since the female has to carry the egg.
