It amazes me how much I hear that line from blue pilled men who have girlfriends or wives.

I just heard it again today. We had a new employee start and he noticed the guitar on my shirt and asked if me I played. I told him I do. He proceeded to tell me how he used to play bass professionally and tour for over 20 years but now he can't so much. He really seemed to enjoy talking about it. He's in 50's now I would guess, and I don't know if he recently got remarried or what, but he went on to tell me how his wife won't let him display a guitar or two in the living room, he is having to sell 95% or more of his equipment, (He was showing me pictures and he has TONS of it, amps, keyboards, mics, speakers, you name it) his wife won't let him invite people to play or jam, his wife won't let him buy new equipment, on and on. You could see the defeat in his eyes.

Astronomy is a hobby of mine and I visit a website with forums where people can discuss all things astronomy. It's a great group of (mostly) guys. No stupid bickering, no petty arguing, really good people happy to help beginners and old pros a like. But one reoccurring theme I notice is the married ones talk about how they're "trying to get my wife to allow me get this new telescope" or "I don't get out much as I used to, my girlfriend / wife hates this hobby", or "I tried to take my girlfriend / wife with me to a star gazing get together and she was didn't want to go" or a variation on that one "Sorry guys I can't make it to this one because the girlfriend / wife doesn't want to go (doesn't want me to go) so I can't" or in their classified ads "Selling this stuff because the girlfriend / wife wants it out of the house!". The list is endless.

I'm 40, soon to be 41 in a couple of months. My few close friends I've known since middle school are all married now. Some are divorced and remarried, and some have kids. I still love them, and we get together when we can, but it's amazing to see the changes in them since they've been married. "I used to go shooting", "I used to love playing board games", "I used to play drums", "I used to like working on cars", "I used to go the movies". I've heard all of that and more from them. And every time, they all say it with that dead tone in their voice. They still get to occasionally when their wives "Allow" it, but not NEAR what they like.

I love how it's always "The wife". Like they're afraid and ashamed to say "MY wife" because they know they're in a world of shit. I just shake my head and smile. I can do any of my hobbies any time in my free time, which I have lots of because I have no wife / girlfriend to chew it all up!
