Many people will try to guilt trip you into giving them stuff "I'm a single mom", "I'm disabled", "this is for my dying mother", "please, it's for the Christmas of my kid". Many among them lie, just to get stuff cheaper or even for free...

Rule #1 : There are no women on the internet.

Rule #2 : There are no charities on the internet.

They are all 100% scams, always. As /u/ChenzaAtCourt says, don't give money unless you physically see the person and can make a judgement call, and in person only 50% are scams.

Better yet, help some you personally know, not a stranger.

And 100% help yourself first. Have a credit card balance? Fuck them. Not enough cranberries for your holiday feast? They can go fuck themselves until you're taken care of.
