I actually hadn't thought about that before, but it makes perfect sense. People demand that which they lack the most, especially towards society. In most women's case, it's respect. Respect, sometimes it feels like the meaning it has for men is completely different than what women perceive, for I haven't seen once a women show respect to men, while I've seen diverse men show respect towards women and other men.

But, yes. To be respected, first you have to respect. Actions speak more than words.
