Well, Idaho is an outdoor recreation paradise. The whole damn state pretty much. Boise is the only proper city in the state and about half of the state's population lives in the metro.

Boise State University (BSU) is a decent school and I believe you can do joint credits with College of Western Idaho (CWI) for trade skills. BSU was basically a tech college until about 20 years ago and fairly recently broke up into the two separate schools. I went to the University of Idaho (UI) in the northern part of the state. UI is a more traditional residential (party) college in a small town. I loved it there.

Last I heard, Idaho passed "constitutional carry" so anyone can legally carry a gun without needing a CC permit.

Taxes, not sure at this point.

If you want to play in the mountains and shoot guns and learn a trade you could do much worse than Idaho.

Spokane and Boise are basically sister cities. I grew up in Boise and lived in Spokane for a year, 2010-11.

My opinion as far as the cities themselves are concerned, Boise has more charm and generally a better culture with less crime. Spokane is forever in the shadow of Seattle/Tacoma whereas Boise is forced to stand on its own. However both cities are great launching points for recreation and Northeast Washington/Northern Idaho is truly 'God's Country'.

In the '80s or early '90s Spokane tore down a lot of it's original city center and basically built a giant mall, Boise almost did the same thing and decided against it and downtown Boise is the better for it. Winters in Boise are more pleasant, summers are hot and arid in both places.

The beer/wine scene is top notch everywhere in the Pacific and Intermountain NW, while Washington has legal weed and Idaho is too mormon for that but Idahoans love their booze.
