Yeah, pretty pictures and all but either be your own boss, or stop complaining. Businesses have overhead and startup costs. You cant be expected for the company not to want reward for the risk they take of starting and running the business.

Yes thats the point. This should give you the incentive to start your own bussiness one day... Or shut the fuck up. Btw competition between employers forces them to give higher salaries or they are left without workers.

I agree large corporations should institute a higher wage, but this is impossible. Corporations must pay for

-capital equipment -interest on loans - transportation -marketing - employee training -HR departments -Accountants -Analysts -Land etc, etc

The concept of not profiting off of the labor at all would lead to commerce becoming impossible.

Dude this is insanely relevant to my situation. Please Please give me some insight brothers.

I'm employed full time (hotel night auditor) and a college student finishing my junior year. Next month I'll have worked for my current employer 2 years. I've always valued hard work and during the MAJORITY of my time I've ate some serious shit for these people. I have been NOTHING but 100% compliant ("yes, sir" ; "yes, ma'am") at all times. Even when I'm sure that I wasn't in the wrong, I still sucked up my pride countless times.

Anyway, my employer has called a mandatory meeting today at 3:30PM to discuss issues around the office. "Gossiping" as they described it and issues addressing particular employees (myself) and other disputes. According to the GM, who I spoke with this morning, my performance has "been lacking lately" and they are disappointed in what they have heard others claiming I have said. Others claiming what I said. Essentially she tried giving me a written warning over something entirely unverifiable which I made clear is ridiculous since I have gone to neither her nor the owner (her husband) with any issues. She wasn't thrilled when I said what others have said is irrelevant.

Anyhow, I said I wanted to meet with the owner regarding my "performance" and that I would be happy to meet at his convenience today. I explained to my GM that, other than the "gossip" the other thing which I was being accused of (using the printer for personal use) is entirely unverifiable given that any documents related to my studies are from over a month ago and the printer paper in my bag (which I bring from home for note taking) is my own. Seriously, over paper.

Granted, i was reprimanded for printing some documents in the past, but since I've just opted to email myself said documents and print them at school. Which I showed my GM and she didn't seem thrilled that it was obvious I wasn't abusing their precious paper.

Afterwards my GM started asking me why the quality of my work has been "questionable "lately", to which I nodded and apologized. WHY has my work been questionable? Let's see;

One month ago I got a terrible staph infection which resulted in 60% of my body being covered in blisters. Yeah, everything but my junk basically. I had a doctors note from the ER and Urgent Care and had to miss 2 weeks of work (and class) as a result.
A couple weeks ago I was assaulted by a guest while responding to a noise complaint. Yeah, 6ft black dude (I'm probably 5'10" myself) and I met at the elevator door as it opened and I could tell from the yelling I heard as it opened that it was him. Told him he needed to keep the noise down, dude punches me in the face. I call the police, contact my employer....and nothing. I went to the hearing for the assailant last week, but no accident report was filed regarding the assault. Neither my GM nor employer have asked about it either. Pretending like it never happened.
I've had my belongings stolen (Macbook Pro 2012, at least $100 from the drawer when we were robbed (yes I covered it from my own pocket), $40 sunglasses) and management has never provided me with any video footage of the evening in question regarding my laptop.
Insanely abusive "ex-manager" (they rehired her, but not as management?) who verbally abuses myself and other employees regularly and quite obviously takes pleasure in doing so given her propensity for it. I have audio recording of her doing this to myself, making baseless accusations and identifying herself as my manager (which she isn't), and contact info from GUESTS who have witnessed this while staying at the hotel.

So, understandably I feel as though management is trying to liquidate me before I make it clear what they failed to do regarding these, and other situations. It's a shame because I feel I worked my ass off for people who have taken advantage of my labor and disregard for my own well-being. And this doesn't include the gentleman who came to threaten me at work after I got him arrested for breaking into vehicles in our parking lot.

What do you think I should do? I have this meeting in less than 6 hours and I'd appreciate all of the advice I can get. Also, it's worth noting that it was only called an hour ago after I told my GM that calling me her "son" made me feel uncomfortable. I have audio of her saying this, myself saying that I was uncomfortable, and then my repeated request for her to stop touching me.

Yeah, her son that got punched in the face and worked the remainder of an 8 hour shift...which was still 7 1/2 hours.

Help.
