Notice the implicit assumption regarding the role of fathers: the only thing that's deemed important is their utility as a father (i.e. acting like one) rather than the biological reality of paternity. Never ever sign a birth certificate unless you have a paternity test. Tell your bride-to-be up front that will be required. If she balks, ask her if she would be willing to pay for a piece of land and a home - the taxes, the upkeep, the mortgage... and not be certain her name was on the deed? If she balks, next her.
