That man's story sounds a lot like my dad. My dad was my idol, but now he's a mere shadow of his former self. He's told several relatives that he's given up and just working to support the family, not expecting a way out or even trying to look for one.

Glad he have me some given advice that he, unfortunately, didn't follow for himself. And yes, all that advice was in regards to never marrying or spending money on women.

With people like this I always wonder, do they not realize they can just up and leave the country? They're literally trapped in a prison of their own making. I have passports in two separate countries for this very reason - if shit goes tits up in one I can go to another.

This is a strange trend that women don't like to admit is real. After all, it reduces their role in a family setting to "furniture" level. They simply exist for the sake of existing.
