Yes because name-calling and bickering like women is how we move as a society especially in this subreddit.
Believe it or not, I would do this too. I'm looking to retire a decade from now; I still want to be part of the work force. I deal in tech and tech is always evolving. Many military veterans hate sitting at home once they retire. For one, my uncle retired and now owns his own business (he retired as a commissioned officer). My dad also retired from the military as an enlisted but he owns his own business.
Maybe you should take a look in the mirror and ask yourself what you want to be in 10 or 20 years. This guy's retired but goes to work because he can and he enjoys it.

Basically me too. I got fired from a job a couple of years ago (there was a change in management) but I really should have quit before that. It was a shit job anyway. I have been living a decent life since then. Enough money to eat, keep a roof over my head and support my hobbies. I'm not rich by any means, but I have enough.

I wasnt working for part of the summer and early fall. It was relaxing and I went to the beach multiple times and used the time off to really asses what I want from life. Got a better job where I contract and make my own hours, almost doubling my pay. I now have my stash of micro FU money ready and will be looking at taking a trip to Croatia. Life is good my dudes!

Oh I owe on all three and have about 103,000 expected to pay to m yuh kids . Just curious what yall do . Sale it all. Rcp put the military. More short deployments then I care to talk about and . I'm the staff duty cq watch SGT which I hold the record for the most of that time . I know a 9 to 5 job is not going to be easy to slide into nor do I want that . But I dont want it to take 5 years to pay everything off either

I have about 15 things I want to buy in the $700 - $2000 dollar range. None of those are things I truly need and it adds up quicker than you think. If you don’t believe me plug your finances into an app like Mint and let it total your spending categories. Every $1000 you spend today is time on the job you don’t get back. I stopped looking at transactions as trading money for materials as that is not true. I am trading TIME ON THE JOB for materials. Start thinking in those terms.
Here’s an example. I’ve been eyeing this really cool rifle scope for months now. It costs $1,299 but I have over 60k in cash doing nothing so I can easily afford it. However buying this scope means I have to work almost two weeks to offset the cost. Is this scope worth two weeks of stressful time? No.

I'd say no. Love my bike. Hate by payment . And love the fact I'm slowly getting ahead. Smokes and energy drinks are the last thing to cut off. I dont even buy clothes anymore . Really nice to keep my truck filled with gas for these last m iij nute NCO calls. I also live 40 minutes from.base . I see your point .

Small changes brother. Using an app like Mint and getting weekly spending reports really forced me to reevaluate my spending and make the changes I knew I had to make. It’s a free app and is available for desktop and mobile. Take care friend.

I actually did need it . Trucks not what I'm freaking out about but it's probably going away also . Second incomenis a non illness I dont want a house . Dshs child support payments . I know my ex wife . So 103 months left at 1206.00. . I'm better now . I dont know what a cool guy symbol is . I'm just probably getting rid of everything . Start fresh and get a place closer to my kids .

A lot of men buy trucks because it's "manly" but they don't necessarily need one to haul anything around and could just as easily drive a much cheaper sedan since most trucks start around 30k. I find for the once or twice a year I actually need to move something big I can just ask a friend with a truck.

I've always had a truck. Bone stock. Since age 8 living on a dairy . Plus I keep close and shit in mine and a deployment bag. But since I'm rcp ets they giving me a 45,000 kicker to leave active duty .could just pay the truck off . . And its helped to be able to move all my stuff at one time when needed . Since I'm about to rent or sell my home . Thank you tho. Just had a huge mental breakdown . The other day . Come and goes .

2020 for me, is reaching my 25th year into a 25 year pension this October. I will leave in 2021 allowing my investments to grow another full year.
Gentlemen, I beg you to invest in your 401k, deferred compensation plans as much as you can throughout your working lives. In 2021 I will end my working life with a pension including benefits, & a satisfying 6 figure investment amount.
Being free...so looking forward.

Don't know anything about your country but 401k is our employer offered retirement investment option. Typically a company will match a certain percentage of your income...say 5-10% for every dollar up to that amount you contribute yourself. So if you make 50k a year and your employer matches 5%, then if you contribute up to 2500 they will give you that amount of money in a tax deferred investment account. This is money you cannot typically touch without penalty until you're retirement age but the gains on it are not taxed annually like they would be if it was treated as income which helps your money grow.
Typically you should always contribute the maximum your employer will match (in the above example at least 2500) so that you aren't losing out on free money. Ideally, although most people can't afford it, especially earlier on in their careers, you want to contribute the maximum you can to these accounts as early as possible. In 2020 the US max 401k contribution amount is being raised to 19500 / yr. Money that grows in these accounts for 35-45 years does way more for you than a larger amount of money that only has 20 years to grow. You should also (in my opinion) go for high return investments with the money you're putting into these accounts the younger you are with your retirement money and then become more conservative the closer to retirement you get.

Also, your money grows “tax deferred” meaning no taxes on your money nor the interest is taxed by the government. Eventually your interest is making interest. This is the beauty of “compounding interest”. Look into your companies 401k to see what they offer you as far as investment vehicles. I am 100% in stocks & it’s paid off beautifully.
Also, by investing pre-tax, you are lowering your tax liability for you salary. Let’s say you make $50k a year. If you invest 10k for the year, then the government will only tax your salary as 40k. This is Winning!
