Tell them you will be applying for unemployment and do not want them to block you. Don't tell your state you are fired. You are simply let go because your role was discontinued and you did not do anything wrong or break any rules.

I used to quit before i got fired. There are jobs out there, if your not picky you'll find them. Honest pay.

Id get a temp job now to pay the bills. It looks better on a resume if you dont have a gap. Plus if you have to handle looking for a new job and exams you will probably flunk out. Right now you need to triage and do what gets you the highest benefit for the lowest cost.
