I dunno, the overall changes are pretty small.

A lot of what they did was really just reinterpret the previous design through the lense of Android's material design aesthetic which is circa 2014. It's nothing new, just new to YouTube.

To my eye, it looks good. Especially the redesign of the logo which has extremely good kerning on the letters. Everything about the typography of "YouTube" in that logo is excellent.

Though maybe that's just me. I used to do web design/development back in the day before I changed professions.
