I lived with a roommate who came in from another state in order to make it work with a babymama. They were together for 3-4 years, had a sweet daughter (around 5 at the time), and separated for 2-3 years.

If your relatives don't understand, just tell them you're not interested in talking to them about it. If they keep asking why, just leave them. If they believe she's allowed to do that to you to make you apologize, you are absolutely entitled to do that to THEM and wait for them to apologize.

I don’t know about your country but in most places you have no fault divorce after 5 years separation. Has she been with brother all this time or with chad who has recently kicked her out. I think likely the latter. My advice, lower your income with a view to abandonment divorce next year. Do not let her back in.
