People are dumb, if you try to present them with a new idea most of them are not open minded and will attack you for not adopting the general mindset.

To me it's less of a question of being ashamed of claiming to be a MGTOW and more of a question of what do I gain ?

In my experience the answer is nothing , I gain absolutely zero by letting people know that I find women to be insufferable, I'll be chastised for it, and for those who are really gynocentric I'll be ostracized for it.

Better to pretend I am just "unlucky in love , oh shucks" where people can sympathize versus I'm on the " fuck women " train where people will claim something is wrong with me .

Theres no benefit in my experiance and opinion about being openly different or mgtow in this case. Its no ones business and you can always tell people you are close to and that really matter. Think about 1984 if you read it. You cant be too openly against the system becuase otherwise you get killed. And mgtow is essentially the brotherhood in thsi analogy. They are there, but they cant defend you from big brother so you gain nothing by being openly with them. Plus its like rule 2 of mgtow: You do not talk about mgtow.

The point is, don't make yourself into a target. It makes your life harder due to the fact you are purposely going against the grain. Robert green book 48 laws of power has a law that says, think as you like, but act like everyone else or something along those lines. Just think of it playing the game on an even harder difficulty than you already were before everyone else knew.

By labeling yourself as MGTOW you invite negative attention from people that hate MGTOW. Same reason people don't go around announcing their political or religious views. It's a risk with zero possible benefit

In society there's a conflation with being successful and being able to get a girl/wife. If you can support a family, it means you're motivated and doing well for yourself.

Saying that you're MGTOW would let many people believe you're actually an incel. As such, it's way better to keep the details of your relationships private. At least saying that you're holding out for the right one, actually increases your worth in the view of women, giving them the impression they have something to compete for.

No, whatever policy (stealth or open) you think is best, by all means, do it.

Some mgtows have fun pretending, others don't associate with people and thus only rarely need pretend, many need to pretend in order to avoid annoying questions and not get destroyed by HR and lose their jobs. To each his own. There are many policies of behaviours in public among mgtows. Whatever works individually is fine.

I can only speak for myself here. I don’t eat carbs, some people do. Some people think I’m crazy when I eat a meat that consists of fatty steak covered in butter. Here the thing, that diet works for me and I don’t give a fuck if anyone understands or not. I don’t care to have the discussion. If someone asks me how I lost weight and maintain a lean BMI, I will tell them and won’t give a single fuck if they don’t like the answer. Same thing for MGTOW and associated lifestyle philosophies. I simply don’t wish to have the discussion. If someone asks me why I have such a peaceful and playful demeanor and am happier than they are, I will consider explaining it. Again, I don’t give a good god damn if they listen.

One other reason, specific to reddit, to stay away from self identifying as MGTOW is that there is a significant gap between perception and reality as it relates to the label “MGTOW”. Some people think that we as both a group and as individuals are toxic misogynists. Many people can’t see past a label and will therefor invalidate any opinions, even those completely unrelated to intersex dynamics. It’s not worth the time. If I’m on the Keto sub extolling the virtues of almond flour, I don’t wish to have a sidetrack discussion about my rules for fucking.

Good question and “have an upvote”. I doubt you are in any danger of fucking up your karma score. Not a controversial question.

To be more Machiavellian. It’s better to keep a low profile and if you’re truly GYOW you don’t need anyone’s input, approval or validation. It just makes everything harder especially sleeping with many women.

Mostly to avoid hassle and energy. Think most people here said it once or several times before and just ended up tired of making the same logical arguments and being looked back like they crazy or something but receive only stupid responses in return. Ended up concluding it's a pain in the ass with nothing or little to gain. It's kinda like handling a girl ure in a relationship with or any girl really. You just say what they wanna hear just to avoid tiring conversations and arguments. Do I look good in this dress? Yes. Why are you not getting married? Guess I just didn't meet "the one" yet. One simple answer that avoids hassle and more problems

People who dont play the same common game as everyone else are unpredictable to other people. A lot of our social interactions run on implicit knowledge. If they think you are playing the game in order to someday have a family, they can assume you are law abiding, reciprocating, and doing your part for society. People outside the box can be scary or needs further investigation to figure out
