I doubt the numbers: For example, in Germany blood infection (sepsis) is the third most frequent cause of death, after hearth disease and cancer. It seems very unlikely that it is so rare in the US.

OK these particular numbers may be largely fiction but reading 'cause of death' statistics can be very misleading. For example most of the deaths that are basically old age get put down as some bad sounding reason when that was just the last thing they got.

The issue with female enfranchisement is that by and large, feeling safe is a much higher priority for them that actually statistically being safe, and the two are not always related.
