This is a great visual reminder that as a man on his own, nobody is going to care what condition he is in. If he's lying on the pavement with nothing to eat, they'll scarf 5200 calories of shit right in front of him without a blink of compassion whatsoever.
Nevertheless, this is a wonderfully valuable piece of information that you should never forget. Every time you begin to put yourself second, or can quite strike-up the courage to "be selfish" and do something that might piss-off your mom, girlfriend or wife because it's something for you, remember this. As men we are ultimately alone, and every decision you make should be made with you as the primary subject of consideration, then others.

right, you better give a fuck about yourself because no one is going to give a fuck about you.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Your parents depending on how good they are will give a fuck about you, your brother too. And that's when it stops.
Never expect a woman to help you out from a bad situation unless she is your mum.

When you become older and your Mom no longer sees her child but a mature man she will turn on you. AWALT

Reminds me of when I was homeless. Nobody gives a crap about you.
[–]SocialCupcake39 points40 points41 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Most of us have been homeless for a bit. Though mine was a small car for a year of college until I got a military scholarship.
Makes you tougher and appreciate a roof, heat and a shower. The rest of your life is easier. As close to the dust bowl as you can get.
Its kind of like when women have to monkey branch, those tough times of living in an apartment with blue collar boyfriend #1 until RichChad#2 comes along to buy her a Benz and a house, those lean times make one stronger.

I was in the same boat, or car. Homeless for a few months in college. Slept in my car in my college parking lots. Took showers in the gym locker room. It wasn’t fun.

That's my situation now. Was laid off in August 2016 from a job and lost my apartment and had payments on my SUV to make. Worked a few temp jobs and ran my own driving/taxi business to make ends meet and slept in my truck, then picked up an amazing (also temp though sadly) job this past September that has paid me wonderfully and I have paid my truck off now. Because of my rent history (losing the apartment), I can't get another place and I hate it. I make more than enough money to do so, more than ever before...but it's not enough to get in with a dinged credit. My credit is the one thing keeping me homeless, despite paying off debts and paying everything on time otherwise. I hate it.

Go to HUD and apply for housing assistance. Since you are homeless you are put at the top of the line and will be able to find a place to live.

dude, that really sucks! there's gotta be a way out, right? You checked with the guys over at r/personalfinance ?

[–]MadPreacher1AD15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
My baby sister came and got me to live with her. I can't work due to disabilities.
[–]skydragonwhore8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Lucky. I'm an only child and my parents are shitty. I take care of myself as best I can

My dad was great, but my mother was like yours. I hope you do as well as you can.
[–]tylerden1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ya I was homeless for six months because I became disabled...noone gives a fuck about you on the street. Your suffering. Never met one homeless girl though.
Eventually my mom came and saved me.

Same here man. Spent about 8 months in a tent. (now I have a $100k job. how things change)
Homelessness a sobering experience every man should experience at least temporarily, just to illuminate to him the fact that he's essentially a financial instrument to most others (except himself and true friends).

You'll never feel more invisible than when you're homeless. I spent nearly 2 years living on the streets and in shelters. The looks of disgust/disdain that total strangers will give you feels awful. I've never felt like less of a human being in my life.
[–]kardz336 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I’d help so many more people if I could tell who was legit and who was just looking for handouts.
I hate seeing people like this. I’m well now, but I know what it’s like to be down and poor.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I will tell you that I THINK, most homeless real guys who just felt in rough times are younger guys. Older people that are homeless mooost of the time, are alcoholic and/or drug addicts.
[–]Faulko774 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This isn't entirely fair. While you're not necessarily wrong, theres a great deal of these men that turned to drugs for a coping mechanism. MAny of these older homeless men suffer mental illnesses, and were cast aside by the system. Do you know how frightening that is, to not understand your own mind or how to control it, and because of this you end up alone on the streets. Its no wonder drugs are such a huge factor, because they help to numb that pain and confusion. I remember when i was living in vancouver there was an institute that housed men with mental issues. For whatever reason, funding was cut, and these men were thrown out, and back onto the streets. They were being treated, and then all of the sudden thrown away like trash. Once they're on the streets people treat them like trash. You get told you're trash enough times, you believe it.
I'm not trying to condone addicts or anything like that, just remember that these people are living in hell right now, and you judging them isn't helping.

This scene reminds me of when I was on the bus during the summer. A guy was sleep on the sidewalk like dude in the picture, and a lady behind me started laughing. Her friend asked what was funny, she pointed out the window to the guy and the friend started laughing. What they don't realize is, shit happens and one wrong move can land you in the same spot. I bet it wouldn't be funny to them then.

Never been married, never getting married, no kids, been MGTOW since my teens. If you want to lead a stress free life, if you want financial freedom and security the ONLY way is MGTOW. Western women have been indoctrinated with entitlement and victimhood, they are bigoted in the extreme. Don't socialize with them at work, don't date them, obviously don't ever live under the same roof with them. Stay MGTOW.
For my MGTOW bothers if you want male friendly entertainment listen to Tom Leykis at https://blowmeuptom.com or go to Google play and download the Tom Leykis app. He is MGTOW

Yep. Men are on their own. Embrace it. It is tough, women won't know, nor care, and the majority of men won't care, either. But this toughness can lead to greatness. Look at all the innovators. Are any of them women? Nope. Look at all the talent. Are any of them females? Nope.
Men lead the way. Women just follow.

[–]Helikzhan2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ageism in the workplace is REAL unless you are female. Then everyone is too scared to turn you away. Men who are older are fucked left right and center by a society that has used them up and thrown them away.

[–]Original_Username72 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Can someone help an ignorant middle-class guy like me better understand... I really want to help but I'm also trying to be careful with my money. what's the best thing I can do to help my homeless brothers? I hear excuses ("they'll buy drugs"), mostly lame ones ("its usually a scam"), from other people in my situation about why they don't help homeless people. Is there a good reason why or way to help homeless guys and know you're doing good with your money?
[–]Shtupidthrowawayer2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Look for local shelters or charities, and see the services they provide. Also check to see how much of your money actually goes to help the homeless, and how much is sucked up for overhead costs.
Fun fact, less than half of every tax dollar collected for welfare actually makes it to those in need.
[–]MadPreacher1AD1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Go to your local homeless shelter for men and see about hiring a few fellas to help you with stuff around your house etc...

There are homeless women too though. If anything this just shows the in-compassion we have for our fellow man. No one should be sleeping outside.
[–]MadPreacher1AD45 points46 points47 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
20% of the homeless are women in the US and they receive 90% of the funding.
[+]ThePanther99-9 points-8 points-7 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
That sucks. But what are YOU doing when you pass a homeless person? Why are we worried about what other people do with funding when we can make a difference ourselves?
[–]darkstout27 points28 points29 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I used to pass a homeless man every day on my way to work. He smelled like shit because his pants were literally full of shit. He was mentally disabled and couldn't form a coherent sentence. If we had funding for the disabled, we could get these people off the streets and they could live with some sort of dignity.
[–]MadPreacher1AD16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
If I have money, I give it to them. I also know who's a scammer and who isn't. It's the eyes and how they carry themselves.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Not everyone agrees with your assumption that everyone deserves to be saved. To me, in a world of finite resources, every decision is a tradeoff. What most of us here can agree on is that women have the privilege of being saved when a man would not, for ultimately no purpose fitting the modern context. While that may not change at large quite yet, there is nothing stopping any of us from rising above the broken ideologies of the past to live out something better right now.
[–]ThePanther990 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
oh no no I never used the word "deserve". I never liked that word. Remember we are MGTOW. We don't use entitlement words like that. I think people took my reply the wrong way. First of all no one deserves anything. Being generous means even though that person may not deserve help you choose to help out of the kindness of your heart.
Simply saying homeless women receive better care from the government than men doesn't really change anything. If you really cared you would be voting against it or trying to change it yourself. I doubt the majority of this thread cares enough to actually do something about it besides complaining and fishing for upvotes with knee jerking images.
