It's because of the constant validation and excusing women get - if they cheat it's because they deserve to be happy, if they're violent it's because someone made them do it, if they're fat they're "beautiful", if they fail at school it's the system that disadvantages them.

Single motherhood just adds another thing to their "amazing story" and so- called struggle, they see their lives as a lifetime movie. they want others to comment on how strong and capable they are all the while gagging for a betabux to pay for everything

Dude... It's just psychological projection.

They claim they're proud... outwardly. It's presenting a public image of themselves that says,

"Yeah, I totally didn't fuck up! I'm totally happy just living this life as a single mom, versus A. living as a single non-mom (i.e. living it up as a slut on the CC) or B. living as a non-single mom (i.e. husband to rely on, plus his income)! Yeah, those two things are totally not what I want! I'm so happy, look at me, yay!"

TL;DR: They're basically attempting to convince themselves and others: "I didn't fuck up. It's all ok!"

This MGTOW sub could use a sidebar for concepts such as this. A sort of "Intro to MGTOW" with a topic on Communication Methods or Common Psychological Phenomena that includes a subtopic on Psychological Projection.
