This guy has a lot of tutorials on Python for all skill levels, and he has a great way of teaching. I've learned a lot from watching his videos and I'm still learning more. His channel is a great place to start. Maybe start with this playlist then branch out from there.

Also, sign up to hackerrank.com and work on the coding challenges at your own pace.

Python is pretty cool, I had trouble downloading the deepfake app so I create deep fakes with python now. It's a solid language to start out with. I personally paid for udemy courses to begin with because even tho you can learn it free I wanted it neatly packaged and already set out to start with. Then later you can just Google things and figure it out.

Utilizing the interactive brokers python api, you can trade normal assets (stocks, options, futures, cfd's warrants,) and you can trade bitcoin etf's and futures.

A blog called investing idiocy contains a wealth of information you can use and code you can borrow in his git to get started, by a guy named rob carver. Furthermore, ib's documentation is extensive on their github

Start with this iPhone app: Learn to Code with Python by Sololearn Inc
Then torrent or buy (used?) this book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17623618-practical-programming
Once you’ve done about half of that book and you’re bored with tutorials and practice problems, join: CodeFights.com (now CodeSignal.com)
After you’ve completed the entire arcade mode or whatever they call it (it’s fun! Enjoy it!), you can get frustrated with algo languages and go learn a pure OOP language or something... and complete the arcade mode in that language as well.

Congratulations. You’re a programmer.

I went from zero to awesome this way, just a couple of summers ago.

(An alternative to step 4 would be to pick up a book on machine learning for python and dive deep into your trading project.)

If you've ever coded in any other language, it's easy. Just look up the docs and start coding.

Python is one of the more irritating languages I've ever worked with. It's clean, elegant (sort of), nothing really wrong with it except it's slow and dynamic. (Compiled, strongly typed languages are, IMO, better at catching bugs) but the biggest problem I've had with python is how incredibly boring it is.

Python is very much an academic language and you'll notice the attitude. There is this notion if a "pythonic" way of doing things. In my view, this sort of attitude (one true correct way of doing x,y,z) drains the language of creativity, turning the coder into a mindless automaton following rules and policy.

So, the biggest problem learning python will probably be sheer boredom.

A trading bot might be a little ambitious for a first project, you might fall asleep half way through coding it. :)

I know of a site, you probably never heard of it before. It's called google. www.google.com

Give it a try. What you do to use it, is open the link, then put a question or a statement into that input field in the center of your screen and then "search the whole fucking internet" for an answer in practically any kind of media (text, audio, video, game, possibly other kinds of media, too, who knows).

For example, you could put in "Python coding resources for beginners." in there and I'm sure it'll show you at least 3 links to various valid web sites. I know, it's crazy. First the hovering skateboards, now THIS?!?!
