I can give you this free tip. If you are going to Germany, don't bring any version of Wolfenstein with you, only the newest one is actually legal, if you have the German approved edition: they like to pretend Nazis didn't happen and it's against their laws to have anything that says otherwise.

Give War Thunder a try, it's a (mostly) WW2-based game where you can play both with tanks and planes against other players (team vs. team). The game is completely free and it doesn't have high system requirements.

www.gog.com has tons of great DRM-free(*) games that range from new releases to archaic, and you're bound to find things that run well. If you're into RPG's, the Neverwinter Nights series is excellent. If your laptop is far more limited, maybe try the Ultima or Forgotten Realms games. There are tons of great titles from throughout history.

They always have a weekly sale going on, so be sure to check it out.

(*) - If you're not familiar, DRM is Digital Rights Management, and determines who "serves" you your game. Systems that employ DRM include the PlayStation Store or Steam. The upside is that as long as that service is available you can get your game at any time from anywhere; the downside is that if they discontinue their service or pull the game, you're outta luck. This is why people love DRM-free: You own the install files and will always retain rights to the media, but YOU are responsible for keeping it available for yourself.

Mount & Blade: Warband. It has the best melee combat out of any game ever made. Weapon physics are simulated to an extent not found in any other game. Single player can take up far more time than Skyrim. Multiplayer has an extremely high skill ceiling and takes a lot of time to master but is well balanced. I've never seen anyone do better than a 4:1 k/d ratio outside of a duel server.

The sequel has been in development for something like 6 years now and still doesn't have a release date. You could wait for the sequel but you're likely going to be waiting another year or two.
