I've been working at my current job for about a year. At first I enjoyed the job. The work was simple and stress free. The only downside was that I work in an office with mostly women other than the executives. At first I thought It would be ok but by now I see that's bullshit. I've been left out of invites when all the people around me go out to eat lunch or something so I'm usually by myself. I have to listen to shitty gossip and conversations about these 2 who are getting married not far apart. Yesterday was the tipping point and now I'm on the hunt for a new job but I want to know what you guys think of this. The HR director decided to throw an office wide baby shower for this girl who's pregnant. In the original email it just states that if you'd like to donate a monetary contribution for a gift for the girl to bring it to her office. Well they had to reschedule because the girl was going to be out the original day and moved it to next week. Yesterday though, the HR director sent out a new email basically stating the last day to give money is today and then threw in that wasn't on the email that there is going to be food and those that didn't contribute to the gift will not be allowed to eat anything. As far as I can tell, the money is for a physical gift and the food is being paid for on company dime. Is this technically a form of harassment and discrimination to say those who didn't contribute money to a gift, will not be allowed to have food which is paid for on company dime? I want to hear what you guys think.
