Depending on the circumstances and the person you talk to some people believe unicorns are as real as day.
And some people shit in cereal boxes and stuff them over their heads thinking it will transport them to Narnia. I don't base my beliefs off what a few optimistic people (i.e. suckers) fool themselves into thinking. Their opinions matter very little to me.
And speaking on the lottery, there are tons of different types of lotterys, not just the literal ones. The lottery to one person could be getting a hundred on a test or finding a dollar on the street and plus plenty of people win the normal lottery so that doesn't help your argument about the needle in a "mountainous" haystack.
TIL that a few hundred people per state out of literally millions is "plenty."
That's where many people go wrong, assuming that because a tiny handful of unfathomably lucky jackasses succeeded in something very rare or hard to succeed in, they can too. Letting the possibility of success, no matter how disturbingly against your favor the statistics are, run your decision making process is a recipe for disaster and misery. That's how gambling addictions are born.

So true. With my ex...the first one (don't ask) we had a trial separation that lasted 27 days. It was supposed to be simply to distress after graduating from college. We were constantly fighting etc... 27 days. So we get back together and all is well until 3 months in she decides to tell me that she slept with someone else within that 27 days. After all, we were broken up even though we did say that we both wanted to get back together so it really wasn't forever. I hadn't slept with anyone as I really was taking the time for myself.
