I'm in a technical field, and feminism/SJW/GenderCrap is definitely starting to infect it. At engineering conferences there will be seminars on 'why science should be more diverse'. Etc. So this guy belatedly realized what the new rules are, and did what he had to do, although as others said, it could have been a short statement, not be a crying pussy.
