Yeah but the interesting thing is its only getting worse with time.
Even the most pathetic and cowed man can have a breaking point, where enough is enough. At the rate society is going, would not surprise me to see people "snapping" more and more.

One man snapping and shooting up a movie theater is a tragedy and an opportunity. He will be painted as monster. The tragedy will be used to pass more restrictive laws (gun control, speech etc...) further emasculate undesirable excess men.
When in reality he was no threat to the system, he was only a localized threat to the people he could personally attack.
