What's sad about this is that they equate sexual attention with self esteem.

Self esteem comes from within and is a measure of your regard for yourself.

Feeling good about yourself when someone else expresses interest in you is a mark of low self esteem, since you're putting the opinions of strangers higher than your opinion of yourself.
