How about dioramas? I've done a simple scene like a winter mountain and lake. I made a wooden box, but you can use cardboard. The top is clear plexiglas with a light blue film/plastic to simulate the sky. A broken mirror glass becomes the lake surface. Modeling clay covers the edges of the mirror and is sculpted into shore banks/hillsides. You can do some fake trees/shrubs as well. Flour or powdered sugar liberally sprinkled becomes the snow. On the insides of the box, let your Bob Ross fly and paint faux mountains and sky that matches the blue on your box top. Finally at the front of the box, drill a hole and mount a peephole like those found in a front door. The fisheye gives a far away perspective when looking into it. Hope I explained things well enough.

Try out foam planes. If you want maybe RC airplanes, those are a lot of fun. You can expand into maybe building quad copters, helicopters, or cars.

RC Vehicles are great fun.

I am really into Scale RC Crawling, but I dabble in a little bit of everything RC (boats, planes, and cars).

there are long projects about RC plans and Cardboard guns ... but i prefer coding something nice or working with excel sheets making financial models. A lot depends on what is your interest.

Buy some sturdy paper, print at home or in the office, scissors, glue ... there are some amazing models out there you can build for a few bucks.
