So I just got off a bus. As it took a sharp turn before my stop, some chick's cellphone flew out of her lap and slipped out underneath the bus door, onto the road.

The chick screamed at the bus driver to stop the bus mid-turn. The driver chuckled to himself and kept going, knowing that it was ) dangerous AF to suddenly stop a passenger-laden bus b) the chick was stupid for not paying attention and holding onto her possessions.

Anyway, we arrive at my stop 30 seconds later, with the driver still chuckling over the ridiculousness of the situation. The chick, myself and an older lady get off.

I don't like being an asshole, and contemplated helping the chick find her phone 300 metres back. But I noticed the older lady DNGAF and kept walking to her destination while the chick wildly dashed to retrieve her lost phone. If a woman isn't willing to help out a sister, then why should I? The chick gave me a split-second glance as she sped away, and I ignored her.

I happened to catch another bus at this particular stop five minutes later, and drove past the chick holding her broken phone, frantically trying to turn it on. She was crying. Over a fucking phone.

I felt nothing. Maybe if I had helped her out, I might've rescued the phone before it was crushed by a car. Maybe she might've rewarded me with her number. Maybe we'd live happily ever after...

Nah.
