I prefer a hot cup of kratom on my weekend days of. Literally takes away all my worries and anxiety and just helps me to fall back into bliss and euphoria as I relax throughout my day.

Isn't it about watching overall caloric intake? A typical bottle of beer has, what, 180 calories? So does a couple of chocolate chip cookies. A bagel has 240 calories. My approach is, during the day I eat only high quality food and avoid needless sweets or carbs, then at night I can have my bottle or two of brew.

I hovered at moderate drinking for years. I would normally never drink on weekdays at all, but on the weekends I'd drink Friday and Saturday night, often getting moderately drunk (6 to 12 light beers, sometimes more).

I get a complete blood work up done each year. Between 2017 and 2018, my triglycerides and vldl both doubled (all other cholesterol numbers like hdl and ldl in normal range and actually decreased) and my total testosterone dropped by 10% (still in normal range). Liver and everything else dead in the middle of normal.

I looked it up and this is a telltale sign of alcohol messing with you (of course my MD didn't see this because fully half of them shouldn't be practicing, he was like "well testosterone drops as we age and are you eating too much pasta...DDDUUURRRHHHH?"). Nothing changed about my behavior. I just got older (41 y/o) and the cumulative indulgence caught up with me.

I totally stopped and made lifestyle changes. Will get re-tested in June. Even though I wasn't drinking during the day and was totally sober 5 out of 7 nights, I still feel better already in many ways.

So yeah, even what would be considered "moderate" alcohol use by many folks (fun weekend warrior shit) can bite you in ass eventually.

The presence of and metabolism of alcohol fucks with many of your body's other biochemical processes. So, I'm guessing my entire weekends my body's biochemistry was slightly off (despite not having hangovers) and this nudged me in a bad direction.

Now, I could be full of shit here and I might get my June blood results back and nothing has changed OR it changed but due to the other things I'm changing simultaneously (I don't have time for a proper study on this moving one variable at a time).

Couple of beers here and there is no big deal, but def go hard if you like to drink and don't want to be a monstrous fatass.

Not rly the hate on alcohol is overblown- the founder of Pilates drank a ton of beer. I just look at it if you love beer you better love working out as well. I drink German lager with almost no hops, I can’t stand the taste of hops, my body seemed to hate all estrogen Boosting plants.
