Every time you use this word, you're implying that it's somehow a separate process from marriage, and not just the last step in marriage.

What else even has a whole separate word for "the end of" that thing?

Instead, use the word that actually describes the thing: Marriage. He's not getting a D-word, no, his marriage his ending.

Marriage is the problem, not that other word. D-word hasn't gotten bad, marriage has! Don't talk about D-word rates, talk about marriage failure rates.

There are guys getting married today thinking that marriage is great and that other thing is terrible. That other thing won't happen to them! This all starts with the other thing being a separate word for no reason at all. The whole word rests on the notion that marriage is the norm. That's no longer true. We don't need a separate word for the end of a marriage.
