The argument about 'equal pay' ignores the requirement of the business to be financially self-sufficient. They can't pay women the same.

Women's basketball has lost an average of $10 million per year, even with infusions/grants form the NBA. And a few months ago they were arguing for more pay. The only way is for the men to subsidize them.

This is an attitude of entitlement.

Just want to vent about another "gap" like this that I've noticed recently. Last year I had a lot of fun watching talks from PyCon, that is a Python conference about programming with Python. The 2019 talks are now up but I've noticed that roughly half of them are given by women. Women represent less than 20% of programmers¹ (even that number is hugely inflated by quota hiring), and only 1.5% of open source programmers (this is, of course, blamed on us, despite the fact that nobody gives a shit about your gender or species in open source). So how could they get 50% speakers being female? That's right, by denying men the opportunity to speak and preferentially selecting women.

I am fucking sick of women infiltrating our spaces. Just fuck off and do your own things.

I thought the whole problem was not with womens soccer, but with the USWNT? Saw some figures that they made more money than the men over the past 5 years, yet got paid less by their own footballing body. If that's not the issue, then I agree, the situations ridiculous.

I've talked and know a lot of people who don't believe in the gender pay gap. But all of my research results all lead to one conclusion: it DOES exist.

As per AAUW,

" The gender pay gap varies substantially from state to state, due to such factors as:

The primary industries in the state and the opportunities they create;
Demographics such as race/ethnicity, age, and education level;
Regional differences in attitudes and beliefs about work and gender; and
Differences in the scope and strength of state pay discrimination laws and policies."

When it comes sports, it's said that women earn less than men because they "generally" generate less money. But that's of course because women's sports aren't marketed and promoted properly. So in retrospect, the gender pay gap isn't being addressed enough, an issue that's ignored through the ages and not acknowledged just because most people view it as a myth.

Tbh, I think women’s World Cup games have made huge progress during recent years. Sometimes it’s even worth to watch than some of the male soccer games.
