Many years after I left her my ex-wife tried to set me up with an "absolutely beautuful girl" at her work.

"Is she incredibly fat or unbelievably ugly?"

Cue her usual rant that I am a pig, misogynist, shit lied etc. Weeks later I am at a bar and she happens to come in with some of her friends and the woman she wanted to set me up with.

She is not just fat, because she is, and not just ugly, because goddamn it she is ugly, but she is 10 years older than either of us, and has an open hole in her throat from esophageal cancer!

My aunt died of a more malignant form of throat cancer, so this perfectly nice woman and I had a great conversation about how life is a fucking-unfair-bitch but life goes on.

I never mentioned my petty ex-wife's shitty and cynical move to set me up with a woman who had way more important shit to deal with then dating.

The worst part is when you're with the type of desperate-loser-fuck of a guy who nudges you and says "Well, well, well, look who's getting laid tonight!"

The first time someone did that to me, it was when they thought some absolutely colossal chick at a drive-thru window was hitting on me. I made a face at him like he just shit on my sandals. I had an honest-to-god shiver of disgust.
