"How do I ruin my son's relationship with his father because I'm a toxic, envious cunt?"
[–]ToshinRaiizen159 points160 points161 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Playing RPG games with me when I was a child is one of the best fucking things my dad did.
[–]Heepster_Happy[S] 119 points120 points121 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That's exactly why she's asking how to stop it.
[–]TerminalSect3368 points69 points70 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The wife is jealous of hubby's relationship with their son. AWALT. She needs to leave it be.

My father never played video games but one of my fondest memories was him and I playing teenage mutant ninja turtles: turtles in time for a hour on a school night. He let me stay up to beat it together.
[–]ToshinRaiizen10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
That's awesome, what a great game. I went to a retro-gaming arcade/bar yesterday and they had the Turtles in Time 4-players arcade machine, it was a lot of fun. Haven't played that game in forever.
[–]inzyte1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Old super Nintendo. I lost that game while moving. But for whatever reason, I'll remember that forever.

The Final Fantasy series literally saved my little nihilistic life as a child and gave me huge spark to my creativity and imagination while alleviating thoughts I'd have of purposelessness. It's what got me into reading, which then got me into writing and so on and so forth.
[–]BigHoneyVon4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Me and my dad were in a clan on SOCOM and those were honestly the best years of my childhood.
[–]blind_sypher993 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My step-dad made a huge fucking deal out of me playing evil characters in RPG games, like it reflected how I act in real life. He ended up deleting my most powerful character because he was too OP for his tastes.
[–]Thermotastic3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My son literally bypasses his mother to come to me. I leave get gets upset. Mother leaves 90% of the time gives no shit.
[–]0signal01 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Tfw never got to experience that. Tfw no dad while growing up
[–]solarboydavid31 points32 points33 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lot's of support for the father and child on that post from my quick glance. seems like many people disapprove of her trying to tear them apart like that.

No it's a lot simpler. Women don't develop passions like men, she sees them playing these "games" and cannot understand why they are invested in them. All she sees is "I get less attention" and want to destroy it
[–]anduxo5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah pretty much this.
In my case, for example, my girlfriend has been fighting for months to try to force me to take 1-2 days completely off every week to be with her.
I'm running my own business and cannot take full days off every week, although I can dedicate a certain amount of hours to her on her off days, and take a day off now and then. But she cannot understand this. She wants me to take a couple full days off every week, away from my business and passions just to satisfy her insatiable need for attention.
[–]Fantoche_Dreemurr5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. When she will cheat on you, because she already justified herself by now, she will blame you for "not being there enough"
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're so right
[–]Ericfyre16 points17 points18 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Imagine how cool it would be to play Baldur’s Gate with your dad as a young kid?
[–]hanskywalk3r12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My Dad always made fun of me and my gaming. You all that had Dads that played with you sounds amazing
[–]simplisticallysimple10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She's jealous.
[–]oirectine0010 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, you're right. He should be doing something valuable like gossiping, shit testing, causing drama, and thotting for attention.

"Alright son now this how you EV Train your Pokèmon pay very close attention this will benefit you in the long run"
[–]Dovahhkiin641 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
My father never liked video games, but he understood that it was something I enjoyed so he mostly kept his opinions to himself. It's a shame how Pokemon is getting dumbed down nowadays.
[–]-The_Weeb_Lord-1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mine doesn't either, and when I try to get him into it he always says he's too old for them or something. When I try to show him something I worked hard for in a game he doesn't really care, which is understandable considering he doesn't know what it even is
[–]Thermotastic4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You dont spend enough time with your kids...
The next day,
You aren't getting your "chores" done.
[–]XboxEgoManiac2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What should the kid do instead lady? Sit on his phone all day and do nothing like his mom? Shut up lady.
[–]rekker13 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Don't wanna be a smartass but it's just "RPG" The G already stands for "game"
[–]russianbot_5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Chill. Just go to the ATM machine, and put in your PIN number.
[–]bresra25001 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I pretty much grew up before video games but my dad did watch ALF with me.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What is it about video games that women seem to hate? It's a common complaint that I see a lot.
[–]Miggymoggy1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I personally believe they consider video games to be a serious threat because they want to be the center of the universe and having a hobby that doesn't involve her is a serious threat, which is why pathetic men set up nonsense like a "man cave" instead of being a man and enjoying his hobby without being dictated to.
[–]devok12 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Have you tried no being a fucking cunt?
[–]Red_Pill_Philosopher2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh right because god forbid the dad wants to be in his son's life.
This woman should be kissing the ground this man walks on because dual parent households are a very rare thing nowadays and kids don't get that full guidance anymore.
Mothers can't teach sons how to be men just like fathers can't make daughters into women.
This structure is very important to a child growing up.

I remember playing Halo, Mortal Kombat, Mario kart, and Need for speed with my dad. Some of my best childhood memories.
[–]SaharaFatCat2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don't have kids, but my nieces and nephews love that I play games with them. Their parents are always amazed that they like me so much...
They don't get is all u have to do is spend some time doing something with them and show some interest in what they like. My sisters are too wrapped up watching lifetime and gossiping about bs.
[–]RISREAL20412 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My dad helped me beat Aztec on 00 Agent when I was little. Actually, that whole last row of levels. One of my best memories with him next to waking up at 5-6 in the AM to go start the family BBQ each Memorial Day/4th. Children need their fathers, man...

I played Gran Turismo with my dad when I was a little kid and those days were the best of my life.
[–]Stahlboden2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If only my parents showed involvement in my interests
[–]funknaught1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
She could actually fuck him every night like it was going to be the last day on earth. Then he might be too tired for rpg stuff.
[–]fortunaaudentesiuvat0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
One of the most notable reasons my ex gave and decided to cheat on me and leave: you a have always given more attention to the children (have tweens): playing video games, football and watching movies together...
Wtf!! Thank God she's your ex.
Damn, this is what my mom did to me and my dad. I used to hate the shit out of him and avoided him because of the brainwashing my mom did to me. And my dad got pussy whipped over the years so he just let it happen.
Its never about the activity usually. It's about the man being at rest.
