Chess is all about defending your king, if the king falls the team is defeated and destroyed. The analogy falls apart because if we tried to apply it to modern families, the queen would inherit half the kingdom if she stabs the king in the back and split the rest with the other team and her pawns. There's no such thing as a "team" in that context.
