Thoughts on the IT/computer science field?

The future of the IT/Computer field will be female managers coming from other fields like project management, with male workhorses doing the programming and infrastructure work.

This is basically everywhere, if you want a male field join a trade, women won't do the heavy lifting or touch poop.

I'm in software design and yes, it's fucking bullshit. Everything it "women in tech"/"gurlzwhocode" and beta simps pushing for more diversity. Don't even dare express an anti-feminist or pro-right opinion.

I work in IT. Just keep your head low, get your work done, be friendly but never go out of your way to be friendly. At anytime in the day i can look outside and see one of the woman from the office walking around talking on their cell phone, I dont even know what some of their jobs are cause i never see them working. You can hear the office land whale snoring in her office on most days

CS and most STEM fields that require logical abstract thinking and heavy math are basically out of reach for most fimmils (and most Males). The way wimminz will penetrate these fields is as management, becoz dem exzelz at EI n shit. This is actually good news for companies that are driven by Men and are out there to out perform and destroy weaker competitors.

Regardless of that, it is still one of the safest occupations for Men and there is still the possibility of going solo via a startup and making some dough.

The BS is not from the field per se but from the media. Feminists hate that IT is male-dominated and will continue to be so simply because women aren't as interested in it. It drives them crazy because it demonstrates their feminist theories are probably bullshit.

IT is great because you can keep your head down, work hard, and get paid a good salary. Your male coworkers don't care about "diversity" or "social justice." They just want to geek out and build shit.

I work in IT. It's mostly men here. We had a woman working in my department. She was a nice person, but the quality of her work was garbage.

I will never offer anybody to be in the most mentally draining and dirtiest field there is known as IT but there are IT job that can offer you freedom and ability to do what you want buy you'll have to be a team of your own.

Any IT field with a team, even men, is cancer and toxic.

I work for a small company with less than 20 employees. I have yet to see a female resume. If you are interested in the field, you could try to work for a smaller company. I also have the ability to plug USB sticks into my computer, have admin rights on my computer, and choose what OS I use for development.

If you have the aptitude for it you can make good money and retire early.

You can completely ignore any office politics bullshit. Stay completely silent don't make friends at work or try to get with the girls there and only talk outloud about work related issues.

Its really really simple if you follow that type of plan or something similar to it.

25 years in IT. RUN!!! Get into finance!!! IT is long hours, no overtime salary, no raises, blatant age discrimination unless your'e a woman, blatant sexism if you're not a woman, dead end. Women NEVER do any of the work and instead demand to be spreadsheet jockey project managers who just sit on conference calls, figure out who to blame and bitch incessently about how much they hate their husband for "Making" them work a job.

When you look at the past office environment think mid century "Mad Man" or Corporations in the 80s, men in suits, wolfs of wall street types. You can easily see how that changed.. You have offices now that are heavily feminized.. full of PC policing... anti-discrimination, anti-harassment mandatory training.. female drama full time.

Now switching to IT fields.. from programmers/web developers to sys admins and hardware nerds.. this all is changing really fast similar to corporate offices.. You rarely will see a room full of awkward "smelly" nerds banging keyboards all day and bragging about yesterdays epic dungeon run in WoW they finished...

You will have new tech companies full of smiling females walking around just waiting for you to say something even slightly inappropriate so they can run to HR and complain.. gotta get that victim status!

And like others described.. you can succeed in it.. smile and nod and do your job.. fit in for 8 hours then go home and be yourself.. eventually you can try to create your own business.

I have not worked in the free market for 8 years. I am in government so take that into consideration.

When I was in the free market, I saw massive amounts of IT jobs sent to India. I took a college course in computer programming in order to upgrade my skills. The professor said that if you took this course expecting to code, think again most jobs are being sent to India.

Another problem is Cloud computing. Network guys are losing their jobs.

What I am saying is things could have change recently. So do your homework. Because 8 years ago I was thinking of leaving the IT field, then I got my current job.

"Diversity" is in A LOT of different industries right now. I work in banking operations at a very large national bank (I do loan underwriting), and we have to take courses on "Diversity", "Unconscious Biases", and other forms of "Inclusive" ways of thinking.

It's scary. It makes me stop and think: why? What is it that they are trying to program us to accept in the work place?

And make no mistake - it IS programming.

My buddy just got out of school for computer science. He had some good stories about the womyn in his classes. Basically they can't handle it and they ask all the boys for help. Then they get better grades than the boys who helped them. Get their degrees. Then get a job as an executive assistant because an actual job in CS is very difficult and they dont' want to put the work in. Then they go and complain about too many men in STEM and blah blah blah.
