Morality is straight forward without any real complexity. The guiding principle of do unto others as you would have them do unto you is found across multiple religions and philosophies. Excepting certain individuals who are psychologically divergent such as masochists, people who get off on being humiliated, and the like if you live your life according to the golden rule you cannot go wrong. The golden rule is self evident requiring no proof or reasoning to back it up.
People want morality to be grey rather than black and white because they want to feel good about themselves while doing objectively bad things so they rationalize their actions. They steal from their employer and rationalize it by saying to themselves, "I should be getting paid more," despite their having agreed to do the work for the offered compensation. Women cheat on their spouses by saying to themselves, "I should be getting more attention but he is always busy working."
Take the Trolley Problem and apply the golden rule to it and it changes from a provoking thought experiment into a single acceptable course of action. No one has the right to sacrifice another's life against that person's will to accomplish a goal. The ends do not justify the means. I certainly don't want anyone to kill me nor do I want another hapless person tied to the tracks to be killed so that I may live. I keep my hands off the switch and five people get run over by a trolley. By choosing not to save those five I have not killed anyone. If I would have thrown that switch I would have deliberately taken the presumably innocent life of a complete stranger.
As far as dark matter goes we don't know it's there. In fact there is no evidence for dark matter as of a few weeks ago when I last checked. If the theory holds true then they should be finding evidence but they just aren't. If they don't find evidence soon the idea of dark matter is likely to be scrapped in the next few years and one of the competing theories will then take the forefront.
