...because it’s an old male expectation to persevere through failures and keep trying.

What they fail to understand is this makes sense if the consequences aren’t terrible.

Say you’re worth 1 million and make 200k a year. I’d say many of us would love a job that good if it’s on our field of choice.

One divorce with alimony cuts you down to 500k net worth and 100k a year.

2 divorces cut you to 250k net worth and 50k a year.

And that’s if alimony is only 50% of future checks. Not to mention you could be falsely accused of crimes, or pay child support for kids as well. Roughly 24k a year for each kid.

You can fail at basketball 100 times. The worst possibility is dying from an injury mid-game, and the chances are unbelievably rare for that to occur. Similarly this occurs with say writing a book, earning a degree and much more.

But marriage has psychological, emotional, financial, social, and physical implications. You’re questioning where you went wrong, lost in misery and sorrow and pain and grief and self-hate and loneliness, you’re stuck paying her for life after she leaves, mutual friends take her story of your actions as gospel, and the stress wrecks your body.

Not to mention being separated from kids raised without you. Potentially against you. And potentially not even you’re kids.

And let’s not forget common law/civil union/cohabitation and then the mess gets darker. Now add in if you’re a DV victim or was raped by your wife. Where do you go and explain how your wife manipulated you into that? Seriously. Not to mention you’re likely have a gun at your head and unless she’s absolutely atrocious any of her flaws will be taken as caused by your actions or not important.

What are men sacrificing for? A used welfare recipient’s once a month/year sex routine while she cheats on you, gets pregnant, and tricks you into signing on as the father? Or the fact she can leave on a whim and leave you penniless. Or how if your in the military she can douse you in so many flames you’ll look like the devil to the court.

Men not only need to let go of believing in the narrative of love, but also that women will specifically react in a mutual fashion.

Just because you’re nice doesn’t mean she won’t abuse the relationship.

Just because you’re married doesn’t mean the kids are yours, the lack of sex is simply her back problems, or that she isn’t having fun while you’re sacrificing 80 hours a week to feed her handbag addiction.

What’s there to get? Be you chad or incel, all men in marriage steadily become beta cucks. They compromise what makes them them all for her happiness and once she is still feeling like she isn’t getting enough, or you’re too clingy, or you’re no longer who you were she’ll leave you with a dent in your retirement and a crack in your heart.

And men then go on blaming themselves, compromising themselves more and more until they accept the abusive manipulative cheating used up tramp in a sexless marriage because at least there is someone there, his token prize as he raises and supports a family that waits till the stress frees up their measly inheritance. Measly because anything of genuine value was sold decades ago. With your hopes and dreams.

The original ideals of love, the social contract of marriage is dead. Women have doused it in flames and thrown the ashes at men. It’s time men stopped being used and abused, tricked into a role of eternal pandering to the female and go their own way.

Social pressures once made marriage ideal. Men wanted comfort and loyalty and love. Women wanted support, protection, and care. Why do men honor a contract that the partner threw away long ago, with men believing they can return to those days after throwing away all they are? Why you ask?

Ask the man who tells you there are better women why. Ask your friends why your struggles are a joke. Ask your society why you should reinvest in a rigged game. Ask it carefully and listen to the shrieks of horrors fearing your decision to break the cement mold of supporting a gender riding the coattails of its predecessor’s gentility and beauty that still entraps many a modern man.

Men marry to find the woman their father happily stayed with. But how many fathers are now divorced, or suicided, or stuck in painful relationships simply because it’s the thing to do? How many Icarus’ flew towards the sun, melted the wax, and fell only to believe the reason they could not hold the suns was simply because their arms weren’t wide enough, their hearts open enough, their wings long enough to support the sun’s grandeur.

No more. The rays of the past reflect nothing of the stars of today. And Icarus should be like Daedalus and glide freely through the air at his pace, rather than glide towards the sun like Icarus and hope the bright light will prove valuable rather than be venomous.

Our only crime men, is not that we dare not grab ahold of the Sun, not glide past it, but dare tell other men that you need not approach the sun to glide freely. That is our crime.

And this burden I’ll gladly bare.

Its the sunk cost fallacy. "I put so much money into this that I just can't give up. I have to put more money into it! And keep putting more in until its finally successful." But rationally, if something is just a money sink, you need to stop. Just give up on that business if its gonna break you. Same thing here.

I "gave up" 4.5 years ago and not only has my life never been better, but I am so much more productive to society. I saw a link to a tradcon site earlier that said we were now useless to society, but that's complete bullshit. The most useful people ever have kept women out of their lives.

I don't consider it "giving up". We are men, we do cost/benefit analysis everyday. We have just applied the same to relationships and realised it isn't worth the investment.

Giving up what exactly? Accepting the fact that you can not win or even draw the game against the woman and her pimp (aka "The State") is not giving up. It's just trying to live in the real instead of the make-believe world. And that is the definition of winning.

There is a world of difference between giving up and opting out. Giving up is something that will spread to other things in your life like a disease that will make your life be far worse than it could have been. Every time you meet a difficult challenge, it will be that much easier to just give up because of the negative psychological impact that it causes on yourself every time you do it.

Opting out is about assessing the situation without bias and deciding that you're better off not going that route.

One is healthy for you psychologically and the other is very damaging to your entire life. So they are very different indeed.

The real bitch about psychology is that it will impact your life and your decision making whether you're consciously aware of it or not. This is proven scientifically over and over again, all the time, in study after study.

Wrong frame. Think of it like winning one of those carnival games. It's rigged with all sorts of tricks and even if not you could just buy the teddy bear for less. I never felt like going my own way was equivalent to quiting. It feels more like a survival tactic or an evolution that's necessary for the sake of my sanity. The real quitters are the ones necking themselves because things get too hard. We're more so just adapting by avoiding predatory traps. Although if you really think about it, there really is no winner in life due to us all ending up at the same exit. Death does not discriminate.
