Was semi seriously considering marriage in my early twenties. My favorite excuse is the utter lack of time, between my job with all of its commitments, and the 50% of the time I have my kids doing things. That remainder of free time is usually used for other back end maintenance tasks (laundry, shopping, hanging out w/ friends and family, and my own entertainment).

Failing that, I state nobody wants to be fifth place on a good day. After kids (tied for 1st), family (3rd), job (4th).

Most people are completely off my case about it at this point.

Funny enough I rarely get asked about it. I'm 33 now and my mom recently said she's never even thought about having grandkids. My coworkers will rarely say something like "you should find a good woman" to which I usually respond "If you see a good one call me and I will immediately come to where you are." Spoiler: I have never made a trip for that.

My own personal answer is I see no benefit to me to get into a serious relationship. When I was 25 I got into a long-distance relationship that was getting very serious after a few years, but as soon we starting seeing each other in person regularly and as the girl saw I was locking in she let her true colors show just in time. She started talking regularly about self harm whenever we disagreed on something as miniscule as what TV show to watch. She then refused to even talk on Skype citing "anxiety". She turned verbally abusive and quick to anger. I started to dish it back out at her in anger and hated myself for it. I ended it and it hurt me for at least two or three years. I was so sure I had found the one. I no longer believe in that concept.

Fun update: She is now one of those purple haired far left girls who claims to be lesbian but is really just a bitch who treats people horribly and shrugs it off when no one will put up with it.
