Some do seek revenge, but the ones who commit suicide likely do that because they don't want to hurt anyone else.

It's the isolation. You reach a point where you feel worthless and have nothing to offer anyone let alone a good woman. Then you start to think about the future and there us nothing there. Nothing. You contemplate lashing out at others so they can feel your pain but then you realize that is not the answer. Then you focus on your own flaws and failures. They repeat over and over in your mind. You look in the mirror and hate and loathe the person you see more than anyone else. Once the people who don't understand how you are feeling stop contacting you and you are truely isolated you spiral into a path of no return.

Unrealistic expectations in the first instance. I quote Samuel Beckett,"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again . Fail better." The first marriage, the first good career move, coping with being divorced and fired, means that when you start again you've always got to have a contingency plan . If you've got unrealistic expectations then you're delusional which most of us are before reality sets in.
