Why Do We Need Marriages?

Way back in ancient times when people were respectable, marriage was a sacred contract taken before God by a man and a woman who swore that they would stick together, no matter what, for the rest of their lives to perform the sacred duty of raising the next generation. When people still lived in small villages where everyone knew each others' names and had to grow their own food on the family farm, nobody would even think of getting a divorce- you would be shamed by all the townsfolk and why would you leave someone who you depended on? They didn't have family courts back then, so nobody was going to force the man to give half his crops to his ex-wife for the rest of his life. Fast forward to today with our sprawling urban cities where running into someone you know is incredibly rare and women are so liberated that they can't even handle how free they are, and that's when you have a problem.

We dont need it in the slightest. Weddings are a gigantic scam. Everything is suddenly 50x more expensive for the same product if its deemed "wedding" themed. There is so much money to be made from people wanting to have a party for themselves.

Not to mention the cost of divorce. Which will most likely happen. People continue to grow and change their whole lives, its not feasible to expect one pair of people to be compatible for their entire life. Its possible, but realistically after some time people grow apart.

Marriage forms the building block of settled civilization. This dates back into antiquity, with physical evidence as far back as the Code of Hammurabi. Why the hell would a Mesopotamian warlord care about marriage? To maximize the labor potential of males in a society. In tribal systems, a dominant chief and his warriors would take a majority of the women, leaving the rest of the tribe to care for them. Men that couldn't compete were left on their own, or raising someone elses kid. These men expended little labor potential to care for themselves. With the coming of settled civilization, Hammurabi and early leaders figured that if you legally bind one male to one female (especially a beta male that would normally have nothing) you could maximize his labor potential. He now has a legacy and wife to work for. He now has to work to provision them. If he owns land, he needs to take care of his plot to generate revenue. HE has a stake in the future of this society. He didnt need to be the strongest warrior to protect his woman. He has the laws of the state to ensure this. His children (exclusively his) will be future warriors, artisans, laborers, taxpayers etc. This keeps the system growing.

In the modern day, this civilization contract is broken, so were seeing the unraveling of society in the west.

The government needs it because marriage = eventual divorce, and divorce is good for the economy because women piss away the alimony money much easier.

There are a lot of industries propping it up and keeping the scam going so it's never going away. The only way to win this game is to not play at all, and spread the word while we're at it.

Politician fear of voters who fear change and who know that it would be political suicide among every voter over 30, which is like 90% of all voters, to even float the idea.

Its the reason for the perpetual unassailable existence of so many terrible laws and legal structures.

My understanding is that pre modern era marriage is more about opening the relationship and let every body especially both parties' family members know and acknowledge their relationship. The government back then weren't so involved with marriage, at least not like modern day marriage. I think marriage is especially important for upper class people/families back then it's about status and their children's status because of the inherent system. It's basically joining the families to strengthen both parties' wealth/prestige/power/etc and to have offsprings to continue the family's name.

Back then if any side cheats or breaks their vows, the other side of the family will shame him/her. Nowadays, the government controls this via the family court system, hence families are rendered obsolete because the judgments were made by the government not families.

Therefore, marriage nowadays are pretty much obsolete it's only there for the government to implement more control onto their citizen.

Marriage will never be abolished because the women need it to milk the blue-pilled tradcucs for whatever they are worth, gays (especially the lesbians) in order to be able to adopt each other's children. That's 60% of the population right there. Then of course, the rich need it because for them it's still a good old property contract where they marry off their scions to each other. That's 70% of the population. For the rest of us (i.e. the middle and lower class males) the marriage is worse than the rat poison. Caveat emptor!

All I see is a contract and nothing more than that.

Marriage is no longer a bilateral contract but an unilateral one, and heavy in favor for women.

why can't we have trust with the partner we are with?

Which partner, the one in the morning, the one in the afternoon or the evening one?

Were we meant to be with a partner for the rest of our lives?

No one really knows for sure. What we do know is that for many, 'the grass is always greener on the other side' and current laws encourage that.

I believe in marriage as a religious union, so I'm for it and believe it's the necessary way children are brought up in the world with a stable nuclear family.

It's just the current climate is messed up so a lot simply do not understand what marriage is supposed to be and legally everything has been made a mess. No one would have even asked such a question maybe a century ago in the West, right?

The chances that your children grow up and start their own live, is higher if both parents stay togheter and support eachother. That's the "genetic" reason.
