I was in military, and also later worked for law enforcement agency (in a not officer capacity). I think women chase men in uniform who get a pension (military, police, fire fighter). Whether man dies or not in line of duty, the women gets a financial reward.

Hypergamy expands to fill the constraints placed upon it. Everyone will cheat, including men, given the right opportunities and incentives.

Military wives just happen to have more of those opportunities, and are heavily incentivized by the military benefits system.

Because it’s an easy crime that rewards them.

Husband is away for long periods of time and can’t keep her in check. She gets access to his home and finances. She can sleep around and do what she wants while still being provided for. When she feels like pulling the cord she can end the relationship in the most brutal way so the husband returns home to empty bank accounts, house foreclosure, and on top of it she has a much easier time taking the kids.

A military man is a walking target. He is so busy displaying how macho he is and that he’s the ultimate provider that they can’t help themselves. You’re literally telling women to rob you.

It’s the equivalent of walking into a 3rd world country and flaunting extreme wealth.
