You remind me of a time I was studying law, it was early summer Saturday night I had been studying since 6 am it was early evening I took a break and watched tv for 20 minutes I saw 2 videos careless whispers by g Michael and addicted to love by r Palmer. Both videos showed a man with multiple beautiful women I thought life so unfair. Both of those men died unexpectedly young and now I am successful. at the end of the day, it's your choice, so nothing we say or feel would change that; it's your choice. But, i will say, the only meaning in life, is the meaning you make. You can choose to make none, in which case life is meaningless, or you can choose to make an almost infinite array of meaning, in which case life is full-to-bursting with meaning.

Before you punch your timecard for the last time, I'd recommend spending significant time trying to develop a new and difficult skill, traveling, working out and running long distance, and eating very nutritiously. If you still choose to punch out after you really do these things, after you really taste what life has to offer, then so be it,...but it'd be kinda lame to punch out before tasting what's possible at least.

Timing sucks, but surprisingly, everything could benefit from the additional stresses, including your studies and the remaining time you have with your father. Dude I have been in your place and believe me it will get better don't give up. A few months ago my father developed a brain tumor because of his position the doctor stated that it was very likely he wouldn't make it.

At the time I had just got my first job in my field (about 2 months in) and just like you I was literally failing at my job (which I couldn't afford since without my father I was the sole breadwinner of my family)

But, I kept going and despite difficulty I'm still at my job and my father's tumor was successfully removed.

As for the succide dude it isn't worth it I'm telling you this as the grandson of a man who kill himself, a man who's last minutes were used telling his family that he was sorry.

So, please don't give up

I lost my grandma to cancer last year. It was tough because she was the one who raised me. The cancer came on fast and was extremely aggressive (bile duct cancer). She only lasted a month after finding out she had cancer. I can tell you the coming months are some of the hardest times of your life. You’ll see the worst suffering someone can go through. STAY STRONG. Tell your father how much you love him, be there for him. Make a bucket list of some wild shit and make the most of what time you’ve got left. Show your dad you can be strong enough for both of you. Don’t think about suicide, at the end of the day we’re only alive in this world for such a short time. Like dust in the wind like tears in the rain our lives are fleeting just live out what you have because you’ll never get it back.

ey man i can kinda relate to that. My father drank himself to death and my mother destroyed whatever was left of my life after that. Unlike the other's i can't just tell you to lighten up, cause i know it's going to suck, it's going to suck big time. It's going to suck emotionally, financially, you'll stay awake at night unable to sleep and the only emotion you'll feel is anger.

The only advice i can give you is to STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM DRUGS, don't take any drugs that you think allow you to relax, especially alcohol since it's available everywhere. Find other ways to lighten up your mood, bicycling, uplifting music, watching stand up comedy, anything except drugs. Eventually you'll get over it, but you want to make sure you don't dig yourself into a bigger hole until you get there. For the next years your life will be on hardcore difficulty, don't blame yourself, don't hate yourself, you just had bad luck.

Focus on your finances, find somebody that knows the law in your area and can help you so that you don't end up on the streets. Worst thing that could happen to you right now is that you'll find yourself in a homeless shelter surrounded by junkies 24/7.

Don't give up on your father yet, 30% is way too much to already lose hope considering what's at stake. Also, he would really be pissed off if you were to just end your life after his death. Did you tell him you thought about that? You should tell him that. He's probably going to smack you right across the face.

What you need to do now is buck up and make it through these exams. If that is impossible, talk to your professors ASAP. You are also going through the grief/anger of a cancer diagnosis. Seek the free therapy at your grad school. They will help. Also, get in the gym and go beast mode there. Physical exhaustion is very exciting.

If you're thinking (and entertaining) some dark thoughts - you're not alone. Theres fantastic things to see, and people still to meet, that you still have time for. More importantly, you have no choice, you WILL die eventually, so theres no 'advantage' in accelerating it (other than the conviction that life is unbearable... a condition that CAN be temporary)

Its probably a struggle to remember the last time you felt PROUD of yourself for something, if you are like my experiences were. Physical therapy can come through there too, dood. I actually got to feel accomplishment once I began running again, and the person I was up against, the one I was trying to out-do, or beat, was ME.

_I_ was the one to overcome. _I_ was the resistance that I had to overcome. Mind. Over. Matter.

If I had enough will to contemplate doing something terrible and hard (on some levels).... then mastering something 'lesser' than that was certainly 'within my reach'.

Which was the 'better' part of me to 'kill' - the part driving THE WHOLE SHOW? Or the part that said "I don't have the will to exercise. Oh woe is me, I ache too much to run."? Because that second me is the one that I SHOULD kill first, and he can be beaten, and heres the amazing secret...

after I did some physical therapy... I had something to feel proud of myself for.

Well, I started going to strip clubs and seeing escorts and a lot of them became my girlfriends. The night life is my home. The hotels, the bars, the casinos, the bustling city. Go lone wolf. Become that dark triad loner. Go to the Gym and make casual friends there. Whatever you do don't become a wage slave who goes to work, goes home, wacks it to porn, then goes to sleep and does that for year after year after year.

Who knows, one day I might not be able to hack it on my own and call it quits, but for now I'm doing fine.

I had to keep going, even though I didn’t know why. I’m doing much better now, and I’m definitely not alone. You won’t be alone either. You’re a good guy, but you’re hurting. I lost my old man to cancer when I was 25 or so. My life was a fucking mess, no drugs or alcohol issues but professionally and personally it was in shitty place. After he passed, I signed on with hitch in the military, got the GI bill, re tooled and never looked back. I was to damned angry and stubborn to kill my self, my being here is giant FUCK YOU bitches to society, I'm still here making that money and enjoying myself.

Please get help during this time. Meds a therapist what ever it takes. You can't change your life for the better if you are dead.

If and when he passes make no major life altering decisions until one year after he passes except graduating school and getting a job. There will be decisions you cannot put off but for the elective stuff like buying a house car etc.. try to avoid those for a year.
