Effort is also in crafty intelligence. I worked my 'ass off' in shit jobs. Now I make more with easier jobs. That didn't happen without some risk taking and social connections - both of which were calculated and cultivated by me. No one taught me how to do that. I was just like a football running back, looking for a lane.

Most people lack the capacity to be that prescient about their situation.
