Also left out the part where they threaten you with your children so they can force you to do shit. Straight up, if you start "stepping out of line" say goodbye to your children and your money.

I suppose the extramarital affair milestone is the 'Love is Lost' event in the flowchart. Would hate to leave that out of a good disfunctional relationship.

Don't kill yourself, because if you do, the feminists win, and that's not something any of us f*cking want to see. Take an extra job or two. Eat less, don't drink, exercise more, sleep less, develop new interests, whatever it takes to rise above the bullshit. A new (or restored) religion or philosophy can help a lot. MGTOW philosophy helps a lot.
And for those who haven't made any of the mistakes depicted in the OP yet, think hard before deciding your precious NAWALT unicorn will never change. Oh yeah she'll change, and not for the better. Let some other poor bastard find that out. MGTOW can't save 'em all unfortunately.

sleep more. sleep is essential
I upvoted you because (seemingly illogically) both suggestions make sense. Sleep more if you need it, sleep less if you need it. Sometimes in the past I have eaten too much and drank too much and medicated too much, and some of that has caused me to sleep too much. For that, the solution would be to eat less, drink less, medicate less, and sleep less, which would probably result in a better weight, better fat percentage, better mental clarity, and better mental health.
But a lot of people (me included sometimes) work so damn much that they don't get enough sleep.
I guess there's not a one size fits all for health, except to monitor what you're doing, make guesses about if anything is too much or too little, decrease or increase appropriately, keep a log, use the log to assess if you are improving, and repeat until your goals are achieved, and then stay there. (And naahhh, I ain't there yet, and maybe never will be, but I seem to be getting closer?)
Health is important. But it seems like the philosophy you adhere to is even more important. That's why I think MGTOW philosophy is such a positive influence. It has the potential to improve everything about your health - emotional health, mental health, physical health, spiritual health (for those so inclined), etc.
Anyway, yeah, sleep more if ya need it! But don't sleep the whole day like I have sometimes, or at least not too often.
[–]ZCnegan 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Working a lot + stress + poor sleep quality (not quantity) = food cravings and binge eating, disregulated sleep (too much sleep and sometimes no enough sleep). First thing to do is reduce stress, then control food, maybe eating less or eating better, then working out, all implemented like one after the other.
Mgtow is essential because mgtow will reduce your stress. Will allow you to just say fuck everything and stop working for a while if necessary.
I upvote you too bro.

Yeah, all that stuff you mentioned is more tightly connected than most people think. I'm going through a stressful time right now, and it seems like the overwork and poor sleep quality and improper nutrition and inadequate exercise are all part of that stress. But what is the cause, and what is the effect? Seems like it's all tightly connected, and not easy to untangle the cause and effect, but it's clear they're connected. Probably fixing the things I have control over will help reduce the stress; that's what I remember working in the past.
This brief discussion is enough to make me want to hit the RESET button starting tomorrow (or even right this second) and get back into being healthy again. I can already predict that my stress will be lower as soon as I make just one or two small healthy choices, leading to one or two larger healthy choices. Heck, just making the decision right now is enough to already decrease my stress. That's the power of psychology or neuroscience or self-observation (or something like that). In 100 years all that stuff might be understood like math equations; nowadays it's not clear-cut like math, and it's still rather vague, but if I pay a little attention I gradually learn what works and what doesn't work (or at least I hope that's what I'm doing).
Agreed on MGTOW. It's been a great positive influence for me these past few months that I've known about it. This subreddit is great, and the MGTOW philosophy is great. Lots of good people here at r/MGTOW and many helpful stories to learn from.
Thanks for the health push! Sometimes only a millionth of an ounce of pressure is needed to get moving, cheers.

@ u/ZCnegan, great advice, thanks for taking the time to write all that up. I read your comment three days ago, acted on some of it immediately, and stored the rest of it into memory for research later (e.g. try more keto recipes, try more whole food plant recipes, try a day or two of avoiding the internet completely, try a day or two of fasting completely [I already do that intermittent fasting stuff every day]). A summary that comes to mind is, 'If you're in hell, don't bloody stay there, keep moving until you're no longer in hell' - trying almost any new health initiative usually helps, so long as it's not one of those fake BS health things (usually you can tell what works and doesn't work after X days of trying something, measuring weight changes, assessing stress and energy levels, listen to your body, etc).
It is all connected if you cant control your brain, your balls and your gut, you are a slave, no matter how you put it
It is all connected
if you cant control your brain, your balls and your gut, you are a slave, no matter how you put it
No MGTOW wants to be a slave, not in any way. A lot of the focus here on this sub is on developing saner and healthier and more limited interactions with females, and never look for validation from females. Beyond females, as you said, all those areas of control are connected, and keeping one part of your life strong helps keep all the other parts strong.
Since my comment three days ago, I've been making healthier choices, and yep, no surprise, my stress levels are already lower. I'm more able to accomplish my job and personal tasks with those lower stress levels, all from making healthier choices. Definitely a big improvement in a short time.
My long term goal is to stop the 'yo yo' dieting thing by just picking a weight and staying there ( +/- a small margin ). I know I need to permanently stick to all the healthy habits (food, exercise, sleep, etc) that go with that.
I've pasted your suggestions into my fitness log for me to review periodically. Thanks again for taking all the time to write up such a high density of good health recommendations, much appreciated.

Just now I reviewed some of the pages connected to the r/keto sub - including this great Joseph Arcita blogspot page - and I'm surprised to say that I have been doing something a little close to the keto diet the past couple months (on the days when I don't eat stupid things like junk food). My macros tend to be around 35%/50%/15% (carb/fat/protein), and I maintain a calorie deficit (since my current goal is to lose fat mass). The way I got started on this stuff is partly (the keto part) because of the influence of posts at r/MGTOW, and partly (the watching calories and intermittent fasting part) because I lost about 60 pounds doing that a couple years ago.
I'm already eating a lot of the keto foods (e.g. pork chops, full fat plain yogurt, full fat milk, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds). Maybe the main changes I need to make are to reduce (or eliminate?) the berries I've been eating (raspberries, strawberries, blackberries), add leafy vegetables (e.g. spinach, lettuce), replace more carbs with fat, and find something high in fiber to use as a replacement for the daily 270 calories of oats (chia seeds maybe?) (I added oats to fix the typical 'low carb constipation' I was having, but I know oats aren't a keto food). (And add more exercise since my day job is sedentary.)
And above all, if I fall off the diet for a few hours (or days), don't let that turn into days (or weeks). Just quickly trashcan the junk food, and start back up eating the healthy food (types and quantities) as soon as possible. I've noticed that the sooner I restart the healthy eating, the sooner all the bad crap (stress, tiredness, poor sleep) goes away.
That Joseph Arcita page is a great high density read for someone like me who is a 'keto amateur.' All the biochemical theory and a simple 'why it works' explanation and food lists and example meal plans, all on one page. I printed that URL to a PDF (105 pages of good content) just now.
Yeah, 'learn and experiment' is a good strategy. Thanks for providing some health suggestions to help that process along.

That all makes sense to me. I read that entire 100+ page keto article yesterday, great material. Probably just about any fibrous vegetables would provide a replacement for the fiber in the oats (?), but it'll take trial and error. Amazing how good fat tastes, hard to believe you're 'dieting' on a diet like that, but I've read the whole schpiel, so I know there's science behind it (and I've read about similar nutrition concepts in the past too; it's just barely possible to be whole foods vegan on keto, and I came close to that in my vegan phase a few years ago, but I usually came back to being carb-addicted).
I posted this super-long 'wall of text' comment onto another r/MGTOW page about a bad diabetes 'attack' I observed just today (not me, some other guy), and a few initial thoughts on keto. The sooner I kill my sugar and carb addictions, the sooner I'll be at lower risk from diabetes (and all the other related diseases).
I'm going to gradualize my way into things by adding one or two new keto recipes each week. I prefer to prep all my food a week in advance, and I guess that will work with vegetables (typically I cook chili or meat, and throw in the freezer; that probably will work for some veges but not fresher salad stuff).
After a few weeks of 'sort of keto' I'll try the hard core 'eat only 10 to 20-ish net carbs' (carbs minus fiber) per day to see if I can go into 'keto acetone mode' or whatever it's called (can't quite remember while typing this, but I have the URL and the PDF).
I feel like this is an accountability group. 'If I write my goals in public, I'm more likely to live up to them' LOL. Thanks for the solid recommendations. Sometimes only a small push is needed to get people moving.
[–]ZCnegan2 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You eat more fiber on keto than other diets probably. Unless you go towards zerocarb that is intentionally low fiber. Remember to keep your protein low to moderate, because of gluconeogenesis this is especially important in the beggining, so your body doesnt just convert protein into glucose, and then you are more hungry. 70% fat, 25% protein, 5% carbs. Like i said low fat has its advantages, but not for most people in this day and age. Carbs became a drug. Like i said, dont be a hero, of you dont eat carbs you must eat a lot of fat.

Well, the frustration and anger in your comment are understandable. I and other men share a lot of those feelings. But let's not get the whole r/MGTOW subreddit banned from appearing to incite men to acts of violence. Yeah, I know, Rule 7, no tone policing .. . but if the whole sub gets banned then adherence to those rules is kinda besides the point. Fortunately there are other MGTOW sites on the web if the 'Kings of Reddit' decide to ban r/MGTOW (they banned a lot of other subs recently).
The gradual progression in attitudes toward women that I've seen others write about here involves (roughly) several steps including the initial anger/frustration (and yes even some hate), eventually followed by indifference, and maybe even later followed by compassion. Not the kind of compassion that leads to getting taken advantage of by women, but simply the recognition that so many women make messy clusterfucks out of their lives (as evidenced by so many posts here!), and it's hard not to feel sorry for them sometimes (laugh at them, yes, avoid being destroyed by them, yes, but also feel bad for the messes their stupid actions make of their lives). Gender relations in modern society are fucked up for non-MGTOW men, but they're also fucked up for women too. It's sad, but short of society collapsing and being rebuilt better, I don't see a way to fix it (outside of maybe some very insular and small religious sub-cultures, but that's not a real escape either since they're inevitably exposed to the larger sick society).
Just my two cents worth of observations/interpretations. Some of what I write may be full of crap. I don't mind (and even like) seeing other competing ideas, but I would mind seeing the whole place shut down. Kinda gotten in the habit of coming here every day to get some inspiration or at least a few laughs.

Sneaky LOL
Meh, a human mind without emotions would only be a primitive computer. Neuroscientists have shown that almost (?) all thoughts have an emotional component. Logic is a useful tool, but emotions guide what we decide to invest our energies into. None of us are complete masters of our emotions.
I'd feel like a hypocrite if I didn't admit to sometimes feeling exactly like what you wrote in your comment (the one you deleted). I hate seeing all the ways that society is fucked up. It's all part of the draw of r/MGTOW, seeing that it's not just me pissed off about how things are.
[–]arcb7c69e20 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If there's anything good in my comment, it's only a reflection of the positive ideas I've read here at r/MGTOW. Yeah, we have a lot of noise in our signal sometimes, but the entire mix is good (even the occasional trolls), otherwise we wouldn't all keep coming back here.

I really don't understand men who are saddled with crushing child support and don't even see their children just get up and move to another country with no extradition? I understand if they took your passport, but if they didn't, just sell everything and leave it all behind.
[–]Idiot_Savant_Tinker9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The issue is, leaving the country costs money, which is something you may not have after paying child support on a kid or two...
...Best to bail before the support hits. You know the signs. Save money and vanish. I wish I'd done this myself 18 years ago, instead of listening to my idiot baby boomer father who said I needed to stay and care for the kid. No, dad, I didn't get to care for the kid or hardly see him, but I sure did get to pay for him.

Jesus Christ. He's paying as much for health insurance as he is in taxes. About 31% combined, and 42% to all his support payments. Good god.
