My brother is on his third wife.

At a family reunion last year, everyone brought their new wives, finances, girlfriends, etc. So i asked the group, as Captain Buzzkill, why they hell people keep getting remarried if it didn't work out the first time, and not one asshole had any answer.

I think it’s a lot of factors but ultimately just because one went wrong doesn’t mean the next will. Look at what made it bad, how could you have been better, what’d you do to contribute to the collapse? What were red flags that should’ve tipped you off that you ignored, etc.

I've talked with some guys like that. They don't see any other way. They're still deep in the fairy tale worldview and can't accept reality for what it is yet. They still believe they will only be happy if they find The One.

Even pointing out the stats on marriage and subsequent marriages only seem to cause a bit of cognitive dissonance. You can almost see the programming kick in to force them to repeat the common lie.

This was a real good post as I have also never understood why people like Robin Williams, and others marry multiple times even though they have been divorce raped several times...

I figured guilt (if they cheated) but I think it's mostly just loneliness and not being able to be alone with themselves...Almost like a women having a man in their back pocket at all times, just in case so they are never alone.

But the other comments are also just as informative and help explain why some men just can't seem to not get fucked over by women, no matter how many times they are divorce raped/child support fucked/false accusations and thrown in jail/metoo'd/cheated on, etc.
